i have recently notice a patch of the headlining 6 inchs X 6 inchs above the drivers head has started to sag...the rest of my headlining is in perfect conditon is there anyway of fixing it without replacing the whole thing...
You can try get a 25c syringe and needle from the chemist and put a suitable glue in it. Ive tried that for the moment until i redo mine, pretty dodgy but it works for now. It does look only marginally better than using thumb tacks. Just do dots where it needs to be held up most. First i tried a gel superglue but it was too thick, normal superglue works fine but gotta be careful holding it in place, if it sticks to your finger you will have to re glue that bit. By fixing the small section sagging already it will slow it spreading to whole roof which looks a lot worse.
Good luck with what ever you decide.
Unfortunately there is no way of patching it up short of pulling it all out and re-doing it. It can be bodgied with thumb tacks or magnets or supa-glue injected with a syringe but the long and short of it is that it will get worse rapidly and will need replacing.
There are some excellent How-to's on replacing the headlining - I followed one of these and the whole deal cost under $100 - allow a full weekend to do it. Otherwise it's in excess of $300 to get it done professionally.
Good Luck.
thanks for your ideas i went to my local hardware store today and purchased a special fabric glue which is spose to leave no stains so im going to give the syringe method a go and see how it looks...if all else fails ill get the whole thing redone...can anyone sugest someone who dose a good on roof lining
i would give it time and the whole lot will start to sag lol, same thing happened to mine first a small patch then after a while it just kept spreading haha
Go to a good auto upholsterer, there is a good one here in Grafton, NSW.
When I had my wife's Corolla repaired after hail damage, the car was 4 years old, he told me the roof lining needed to be repaired/replaced as it had dropped while repairing the car. I said he should fix it under insurance and he told me that insurance will not fix a dropped roof lining during smash repairs if car is older than three years.
When everything's coming your way, you're in the wrong lane.
Mine started a 6 moths back and its just starting to get to the point where its rapidly deteriorating. But i wont be bothered to fix it myself, i'm just gonna pay the couple hundred to have somone fix it properly.
