if its eletric it would go up and down on its own when you turn the car off and on and put the radio on unless its disconnected.

But im pretty sure its manual.

Turn your radio and if it goes up its electric, if it stays down its manual. Alternatively if the aerial is up when the ignition is in the off position it is manual.

if the tip of the aril is metal with 2 slits cut in it than its manuel, if it has a plastic or metal ball looking thing with no slits cut in it than its electric and if it dosnt move than its stuffed.....

    Cool

If its standard it will be manual but just pull the iner guard off and have a look at the bottom of it will only take 10 mins!

That only works if its the original aerial, just looked at mine and it is metal tipped with a single slit and is automatic.

exec stock is a manual aerial. If it has the up down aerial buttons then it may have a shagged electric one swapped into it. If its been swapped to a 3rd party then its anyones guess. Have a look under the inner gaurd and see if you really worried about it.

That being said, a lot of fleet cars (which 90% of executives are) have electric aerials.

Im not gonna speculate as to why, but I have found that a lot of them do have factory elec. antennas.

What brand head unit do you have? The up/down operates off a 12v signal out of the back of the H/U. There are two possible lines its operating off. The first is the [REM] (remote) line. This has a constant 12v whenever the H/U is on. It is normally used to turn amps on, but it sounds like your aerial is connected to this.

The second is the aerial line (normally has a little picture of an aerial on its tag, or just says AERIAL). This supplies 12v ONLY when the H/U is switched to radio. Hope this helps.

there is but it would mean manually wiring it up and disconnecting it from the BCMso it dosnt have that auto feature.

Just put it down. It should have a "memory" so it remembers that you put it down last time, and it won't go up until you put it up, and een then will only go up as high as you had is last time.
At least that's how it works on my VS Berlina

your wires a back to front, you have 2 wires coming out the aerial, one goes to constant 12v and one to the amp wire, swap them around
