Ok here we go,
I thought I would save myself some dollars and change my spark plugs n leads myself, so went out and bought some NGK plugs and top gun leads. Thats all sweet But....
When i came to taking the stock leads off to get to the plugs they just wont move at all. I have sat there yanking, twisting, jiggerling up n down n side to side but they just wont move!!!
I have lil metal surrounds on the leads due to them being so close to the headers(came with car). seems like the rubber behind the metal is stopping it from coming off, like it has a super wack seal on the plug.......
only tried the passenger side of engine due to its the easiest side to get to and dont wanna do 1 side and not the other.....
Is there any trick to this or is my leads just a Bitch!!!
Help!!!
haha
Cheers Rhys
just a bitch try giving them a big pull the leads should come of
thats what i been doing, what budge thou......
Mate just grab pliers and pull them out. even if they fall apart your changing them anyway.
The metal clip that is on the actual spark plug must be stiff if that breaks off you can just remove it later.
there's no special way of remiving them apart from pulling them as hard as you can.
Has it got those metal housing around the outside if so try pulling that out a little then pull on the leads.
you have new leads right? hold the lead in your hands about half way up and pull like you have never pulled before should come of
Maybe try remove the lead from the coil side first that way you have more free lead and just grab it and rip it off and see how you go.
you'll get better at it as you get to the last one
Just make sure you know which size lead goes where. as you take them off measure it to a new lead and mark it with the number matching to the coil and plug.
mine were like that when i bought my car. Just have to pull them off. try twisting as well. they will be stuck on from the heat, so if ya can twist em they will come off. Hako posted a pick of some special long pliers he uses, try searching for that.
Stone the crows greenacc - you've got a long memory! I'll attach the pix - got them at Bunnings for a dollar or two from one of the tables where they throw things out that they can't sell however auto shops carry them. You use them to grip the metal heat shield or the connector and twist and pull at the same time. You could use long nose pliers at a pinch...just remember to twist as well as pull and if you want to re-use the lead only pull on the connector. Good Luck.

Not sure about how much room the six's have, but at a pinch just cut the lead off at the plug and use a small flat screw driver the get under the rubber cone over the plug and unstick it off the plug and rip it off.
Cheers for all the advise fellas, ended up gettin a pair of those pliers and they worked good.
nice, we assumed you may have fixed it![]()
haha i also had this problem when i was changing my plugs last week, ended up screwing one of the leads so just started yanking them out, Best thing i ever did. haha
