After everything I've been through with my cluster and speed alert not showing the speed I realised I should have just checked for error codes.

Code 72 came up the first two times, then it would only show Code 73.

Code 72 is Vehicle Speed Sensor which I guess can explain why I'm getting a reading on the ALDL cable with the notebook but not the in-car instrumentation - will replace this and see what happens, otherwise that's absolutely it and I'll have to take it to an auto electrician and get charged thousands of dollars (possibly?) to have it fixed or risk getting defected.

Code 73 may or may not be concerning - I have an electronic "shift kit" which increases the line pressure somehow, I suppose this can cause code 73 to come up but is it damaging the transmission or just alerting me to the fact that the pressure control solenoid current is too high?

*sigh* it never ends, something always broken lol. Thoughts about these errors I received and comments of coarse welcome.
