Hey all,
My O2 sensor decided the play up, so i decided to buy a new one today. However, I cant get the sucker out. It's nearly impossible to try and turn the damn thing with the biggest shifter I have. Can any of you provide me with any tips on how to remove the bastard?
thanks,

Front speakers: Alpine Type R SPR-17S 6.5 component speakers, powered by a avant-garde 23dxi 2 channel amplifier - 2x51 watt RMS
Rear speakers: pioneer coaxials connected to tuner
Subwoofer: Alpine Type R SWR-1222D 12" 2 ohm dual voice coil 500 watts RMS powered by a response precision 2x150 watts RMS 2 channel amp bridged to 500 watts RMS @ 4 ohms
spray with crc which im guess u would have tried failing that try heatings it up and hitting with a hammer it should be really really tight
i've tried spraying nearly half a can of WD-40 but it won't budge. hitting it with a hammer failed as well.![]()

Strange, I've never had one that was that tight. The danger you have when it is hot is it stripping the thread in the pipe.
Do you have a spanner to fit it? It will be 22mm or 7/8", put the spanner on it and hit the spanner. The best way to do it is to unplug it and feed the wire through the ring end of the spanner, less chance of it rounding off or slipping. If the plug won't fit through the ring end, just cut it off, you are replacing it anyway.
if i cut the wire off and feed the wire through the ring spanner, and try to budge it, but completely fail, is it still okay to drive (reason why I'm asking is I don't have much light).

They are supposed to put anti-seize grease on the threads before installing to stop this happening
You can get dedicated O2 sensor tools, but a spanner and a hammer are your best bet. I wouldn't cut the wires if you plan to drive the thing, you'll probably get a check engine light and chew through fuel.
well, I've given up. I've tried hitting a hammer against a spanner but no luck. If i keep going, I'm going to round off the nut.

Take it to a mechanic? Then it's their problem lol
yeah I'm planning too haha.

Yes the car will run without the O2 sensor. The car will fall back to a set of default values but will run. Wont run as nicely though and will use more fuel. Temporary thing wouldnt be a problem.
Gregorys says to warm it up by running the car first. Remember too that those lubricants work best if left for about 24 hours to work their magic. I know it is frustrating when you want to get a tight bolt off, you spray it and want to get it out then and there. But if you wait until the next day, give it time it does usually help. Otherwise call into a mechanic and ask him to do it for you. Most mechanics will usually have plenty of experience removing those difficult nuts and bolts and will probably get it done for you for under $20 in about 5 minutes.
Just dont make too much of a mess. Best to stop and get some help before it becomes a really big job.
thanks for the advice, makes me feel a lot better haha

yeah this is an old bump, but having the same problems. Sprayed the nut with wd40 - smashing a spanner with a hammer just wont budge. Don't wanna take it down to a mechanic, I asked my local con artist he told me 50 bucks to put it in, think that is absolutely ####ing ridiculous hate this prick, but as ridiculous as he is, probably the most honest mechanic I know.
so yeah, any ideas on getting a stubborn sensor out?
