Exclamation Vs statesman noise when accelerating

HELP.... Hi guy's n girls I have a 1998 serries three vs v8 stato auto when i boot it there is a noise coming from behind dash/floor well drivers side? i have looked at exhaust not hitting the sound is like a humm grrrrr noise and only when full acceleration any idea's as to what it could be The front brg on water pump is on way out but wouldn't think that it would cause the strange noise
also may sound strang but what is the sensor called that counts the teeth / cogs on side of IRS diff?

Was gonna say engine mounts to. More than likely the exhaust rubbing under the car. It will be the passenger one though as thats the way the engine twists when you give it a boot full. The driverside is ok as it gets pushed into when you give it a bit of stick, if you get what i mean there. Plus its way to hard to change. You need to either lift the engine up or take the air con out.

How to change passenger engine mount V8

May be a leak from where the cat connects or the downpipe connects to the headers.
The thing at the back is the ABS sensor.

do these models have a primitive traction control in them I had a 2000 vt 22 5.7 and when you stompped it it would give the same noise with traction on but this car does not fight it it still revs????

I jack it up a bit to take some weight off and then I can see if there are any cracks in the mounts. I always use some thick timber between the jack and sump.

I thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken.

You can put a big screwdriver inbetween the mount and engine and try and lever it to see if the engine separates from the rubber. But it may be hard to see. It may just be easier to jack the engine up until the weight comes off the springs and shocks and see if it starts to separate from the mount.

But there will be no obvious signs that the mount is shagged, you just need to see if the rubber has come away from the steel, just like in the lasy pics in that link i posted above.
