There seems to be 2 temp sensors available for the VS V6, one with a square plug and one with a round plug (according to the repco computer)... both covering 95-97 .... does anyone know what the deal with this is, as I don't want to order in the wrong $100 part lol. All the brands, tridon, NGK etc have one with each type of plug...
the best advice is to look at what plug you have in your car and then go and order the right one, the plug should be under your alt if i remember right.
the VS has 2 temp sensors, one is for the ecu and the other is for the gauge.
which one is at fault? i'd be guessing if its from bad fuel econ, u want the sensor for the ecu.
i'll check my manual and let you know which is which.
the thing is the wiring connector on mine is like a rectangle shape with rounded edges... i'm not sure whether to describe it has a square OR a rectangle lol... its both. there's no illustrations, just that description before ordering...
I was just wondering why it seems identical cars have 2 different sensors produced... weird. I might ring holden tomorrow and ask what they know...
edit - sorry ephect we posted at the same time; yeah its definitely the temp sensor for the ECU I"m after (bad fuel economy, thermo fan kicking in too late) but apparently there's 2 types of plugs produced which is very strange. both about the same price... ($100) ... the gauge sender is only about $20.
from memory a member of this forum changed it and he mentioned that its the longer sensor (bit in the fuild) and it does have 2 contacts and is as u described rectrangle with rounded edges.
one has short sensor and the other has a longer sensor.
