I've been tossing up the idea for a bit of selling my 17's and putting pursuit rims back on and buying a cam/extractors/something else with the money I get for the wheels. I only done about 5,000km's on the mags in about 18 months but I dont really want to lose heaps of money selling/swapping them (paid $1100 for them new with rubber) Also want to get rid of my plates cause they are a bit gay and I'm sick of driving down main north rd on the way home from work and have idiots rev their cars, floor it then have to lock it up not to hit the car thats a carlength infront of them and certain ****wits in SS badged V6's that want to race everytime they see me coz dey r sik ****zzz. I don't have cash to spend on my car anymore so this is the only way Ill be able to do stuff to the car.
Opinions please?
Cheers.
Sorry to tell you, but your rims will only be worth about half of what you paid for them, new tyres or not!
You can buy a set of 20s fairly cheap now, so who would buy 17s.

Just hunt around the wreckers, trading post or ebay for cheap second hand extractors and cam itself would be cheap but would probably cost a bit in labour to install unless your handy with a spanner.
Just keep the rims and save up some money because you'll be up for the cost of new rims when you get sick of the big profile 15's anyway.![]()
dont buy a second hand cam . . . worst thing you could ever do
A second hand cam would already have a fair amount of wear on it I am tipping, plus all of the bearing surfaces have bedded in to that motor, and NOT yours meaning you could end up with big dramas there.
Second hand extractors or exhaust can be worthwhile for power and costs less, just check em out properly.
If you had absolutely no money and really, really needed to get it moving its a possible to do the cam I guess but a cam is fairly cheap and I wouldnt even consider doing it if you intend keeping the car for any length of time.
I like the sleeper look too I must admit, I did it on my VH interceptor years ago but the 15's suck bad for tyre roll into corners and you also cant do brake upgrades as they dont fit under, so I wouldnt get rid of the rims really.
I believe that if you improve performance, you MUST improve brakes and suspension too to match the performance upgrade!
thats my 2 cents worth anyway.
I had free VZ GTO calipers I was going to put on, guys at work already did the coversion and it was piece of piss as we made the whole strut and IRS assembly for Holden, just needed the bigger booster/master cyclinder or something. If I was going to do a brake upgrade Id go for VZ fronts and rears unfortunetly I cant get all parts at factory cost price anymore. I should have made up some sets: SSZ unpainted front and read calipers, disks, M14 steering knuckle (bigger caliper bolt holes) and lower control arms for $700!!
There was a cam on ebay I saw before and posted a topic in here but i dont think anyone saw it, it was brand new for under $200. I have a 2.5in exhaust on it, its not heaps loud, just has a nuce rumble to it. Extractors and a must get, Im dying for a set, even 2nd hand SS ones. I dont fang the car around so the roll in the 15's wouldnt bother me heaps. Ill be doing it all myself, so cost of labour is no issue.
Thanks for the ideas!
