push the lever on the side of the seat down and try again. make sure the tongue the boot loacks onto is central. if the boot locking mech is dead, just go to a wreaker and slap on a newie from there , shouldnt cost more than 5 bucks . shouldnt need to change the keyed lock its self

yeh as above, try lifting the lever as far as you can, then FLING it down (dont just lower it).
    Good luck!

Had the same problem with my boot - in the end I removed the latch assembly and drilled the rivets out to find that a spring which does the latching was broken. Found a similar spring in my junkbox and reassembled. Had to weld the latch assembly shut as it's not designed to be pulled apart so I'd recommend going to a wrecker. To remove the assembly is simple and just a few screws.

Check your boot rubbers are all in place and none of them are stretched into the corners (if that makes sense?). I was chasing the same problem all last week, till i pulled my boot rubbers off to dry them and when I put them back on it shut properly and even the cable release worked.
