Now I think this might be the right place to ask..
I have a 97 VS S pack ute and its got a speed alert in it. Now Im sure I seen a link, To a How-to change your speed alert into a electronic speedo in some ones sig on just commodores some where? But Im not sure which thread I seen it in.
Sooo I thought I would make a thread in here asking How-to or if its possible to do so?

speed alert into Digital speedo
AHHHH!! god ive been looking for that for like the past week or so!
Thanks heaps.
When I do mine to make it permanent, it goes into speed alert with 3 preset settings, P1=60 P2=80 and P3=100
turning it on once off works though
i just did this today and i love it, now i can set my cruise to my actual speed not my speedo which is out by about 5.
dont use my speed alert anyway so good mod IMO

get your speedo calibrated lol ? you do realise speed alert runs off your factory speedo lol

My speedo is ****ed, Its sticky and isnt accurate, like 10-5 k's out of what the speed alert/digital speedo is saying. Figured this out ages ago with the speed alert then found out you could use your speed alert as a digital speedo so thought **** fixing the speedo when the digital one is better.
to get it calibrated and rebuilt isnt much, i rebuild them completely and calibrate them for 95.

yeah i know it is intentional for it to be out, all cars are made like that. but i like to know the exact speed i'm doing. not an estimate lol

The problem is that who is to say the speed alert is correct? My car is ex-police and the speedo has a sticker on the speedo case which says "police calibrated" but it still is 5 kph different to the speed alert so I figure both are just estimates. (or as the speed cop says "tell that to the judge").
Whatever - I still get booked.![]()
Not since '98 when the car was sold at auction I guess, although I've got a few photo's of my car with the speed I was doing printed on the bottom which I suppose don't count as re-calibration
Would it be reasonable to assume the speed alert readout will be the more accurate one as it is digital and not subject to mechanical wear?
