i have a idea for a new project to modify a commodore but it has to be non airbag optioned. is there a vr with out airbag or do i have to go back to a vn/vp?
I have no airbags in my VR series 1, nor my series 2

My Holden doesn't leak, It's just marking it's territory!
VS had them standard drivers side, and passenger airbag in a few models, acclaim & calais..
VR i believe was optional but not standard
They weren't standard on all vs...executive and equipes were only provided the option of one...
No airbag in my VRII exec
vr was the first australian velcal to have an "optioned" air bag so to answer your question yes there are vr commodore that do not have air bags.
On the VS's they were still optioned on the executives but was standard on the calais and acclaim, statesman etc...
VT was when they had air bags as standard? as with ABS??
I rekcon VS II's must have been standard with a airbag (on execs)
i believe there are a few rare non airbag VTs
1995 Manual HSV Clubsport
Wade Cam :: 9.2:1 CR :: Pacemaker headers :: Twin 2.5" Exhaust :: VT Brakes
1991 Supercharged VN Berlina
9 PSI SC14 Intercooled :: Genie headers :: Twin cats :: HM Twin 2.25 exhaust :: 3.45:1 LSD
the only think i see about the air bag is broken nose and smashed pride
no paul thats what happens when you buy a car without a airbag and crash it haha. if vr's didnt come stock with airbags does that mean i can legally put a sports steeringwheel in?

pretty much u can but pretty much u cant isnt standard is it?
I think you can as long as it's ADR approved, which isn't many of them

no as the car came with air bag from factory you cant legally change to a none air bag wheel...you can however change to a sports air bag wheel but there ****ing expensive
if it came out with no air bag from factory then yes you can legally change to a sports steering wheel provideing its an aproved wheel.
i have seen this modified and no mod plate needed because it has no airbag. what do you all think about this type of mod?

Omg that is awesome
The VT was the first Commodore to come standard with a drivers airbag throughout the range.
VR offered drivers airbag as an optional extra on the Executive, S and SS specs, standard on Acclaim and Calais.
VS offered driver and passenger airbags, optioned on Executive, Equipe, S, SS, Berlina (passenger option, drivers bag standard) - both were standard on Acclaim and Calais
my VS SI acclaim has driver and passenger airbags, my VE SII exec has no airbags...
Standard execs didn't come with airbags, nor did the acclaims in both series, that being said, it was up to the buyer of the new car if they wanted them fitted...
i like the rear better thant the front, but over all its cool az
VR Acclaim and Calais were the first model to have a standard drivers side airbag.
VS Acclaim and Calais were the first models to have drivers and passengers airbag as standard. all models it was optional for the passengers airbag

I can appreciate the work that went into it, and am in awe at just how smooth the panels and paint look in the pictures (and how much creativity it would have taken to mould everything together)... so a big kudos to the guys that made it happen, but IMO it looks pretty butt ugly - the roof/doorline just doesn't lend itsself to the styling of the front and rear particularly well.
What a waste of an EK.....
