you can get new keys and get them programmed to work with your existing locks, i think its really pricey though. you can do it at holden. not sure if its the same for VS's though, and not sure if you need an original key

    As above,
Holden can do it, it costs alot (was over $100 for VN/P which have seperate key and remote).

You will need to take in with you (assuming because you can't drive the car, get a lift with someone else) rego papers showing proof of ownership, and ID etc. Aswell as something showing the details of the car, VIN and engine number specifically.

I don't think holden can actually cut the keys, but most key cutters can with the holden code that holden will give you when you go there! I think after you get back to the car, and use the spare key to turn off the immobiliser, you'll need to have the car at holden for them to programme the new remote. I have been told that it can rear the remote when you start the car, but i think thats bullshit personally!

i work at holden, it cost about $20 to get the key cut, add another $60-$80 for the "key head" than add another $20ish for programing, the car needs to be at the work shop (can be done at home but knowing penrith they wont come out (i used to live up that way) you can get the key cut from your vin no. which the code needs to come from holden and the lock smith will cut the key to that code (if its the orignal barrell) than with the new head turn the key on acc for approx 1h and you will be in limp mode, drive to the dealer and get them to program it, also ring ahead they might supprise you and come out.......

    Your welcome mate.

I had the same problem, not because i'm forgetful, but because the car only came with 1 ignition key when i bought it.

So i had 2 of each key made (override and ignition) and had 2 new remotes programmed!

Since moff_man works at holden, ask him to get all your security codes for you, so you can organise the keys before you got to holden to get the programming! Worked out shitloads easier for me when i did that!

programing should not cost 200 bucks its 5 to 10 mins work with tech 1 and shuld be charged likewise

the code is on the holden server and as a dealer we have access to it.

Its $50 to programme a VN/P Remote. Keep in mind its holden, if they were to charge what things are worth, they would have gone broke years ago!

its a little too easy to get your details from Holden i feel - walked in, gave them VIN $20 bucks later came out with a list of all codes for the car no id no nothing - then $80 to get a new key from a smithy. Finally drive home with new key to find old key in a draw at work!

Melb dealers must be different to Adelaide ones! They wouldn't even tell me the colour of the car before i showed them ID.

Not that it mattered, already had a mate get all the codes for me!
