    Default front end problem

I have recently changed my 15inch wheels and tyres for 17" wheels and tyres from a vx commodore onto my vs ute.

When i took the front tyres (15") off they were worn as if i have too much positive camber to the point the wheels would not stand up straight.

I now have the problem of very sensitive steering with the 17's and when turning at speed if i turn a lil too hard it will all of a sudden bite in and it is quite dangerous as it lurches violently either way i'm turning at the time.

What might be the problem ????????

You might have worn bushes in the front end, toe-in incorrect or a rack problem...a badly worn rack end can give that effect....you might need to take it to a suspension speacialist

Yes worn badly on an angle from the inside to the outside, the tread depth on the inside was approx 5mm and progressed down to about 2mm on the outside edge.

The 15" tyres were brand new when fitted.

Sounds like it's definitely a camber/toe problem.. head to your nearest wheel/tyre shop and get them to have a look, a wheel alignment wouldn't go astray. Problems in the front end become far more noticeable with lower profile tyres. I went from 17s to 19s on my VN and noticed that a couple of things were slightly out that I hadn't felt before

I found out the problem this afternoon, when i purchased the wheels i failed to check what the pressure was in the fronts and yep you guessed it they were grossly underinflated, inflated them to the correct pressure and hey presto all good.

    Thanks for the replies guys.

haha tyre pressure is the one you never remember to check.. I entered a burnout comp with only 12psi reading in the rears... no wonder it wasn't quite what I expected
