hmm...pulled heads outta my car after having water in my oil...now! my problem is..im a piss poor student and ive got my heads out with new gaskets ready to go back in but im not sure if i should bother getting me heads checked/machined professionally..i dont want to get that all that done to find there was nothing wrong with them in the first place at my expense... i couldnt see any tears or anyhting on the gaskets when i took them out..and ive ran a ruler with a thikness gauge across the heads and the block and cant seem to find any distortion..and there no signs or cracking or damage..also ive never overheated my car before.. Should i just put the heads in as they are!?!
Im worried ill put everything back together just to find my heads are warped or something.. i dont think the ecotech heads are that weak are they? they are cast im pretty sure..
If they are cast it should be ok. I have done heads(but not on holdens) and not machined them before putting them back on. I have had some do fine and i had one(a datsun 200B mind you) that was not ok, it died in a month again. Given the heads a fairly short id say give it a go and see.
Also depends how much effort you wanna put into it to if it is no good in the end. As i dont think it costs a whole lot to just have a skim taken off the bottom of the head aswell. Call your local mechanic and see how much they charge.
thanks for your input...its about 50 bucks a head, not to much..i can prob afford that lol
