I have a VS with CAI and a 2.5 cat back lukey, problem is when its first started for the first 5mins theres a problem at low revs.
Iv only noticed it at idle so far as its not yet licensed to drive around but if i stab the accelerator the car almost dies (stops firing a couple cylinders it seems) for a few seconds then revs up as normal
When iv sat at the engine bay and tugged on the accel cable theres a sorta sucking air sound around the top of the air chamber, but that could be the sound of the CAI travelling.
My bros VS ute had the same problem which was fixed slightly when he replaced his 2.5" exhaust back to standard 2 1/4".
Is this nothing to worry about (exhausts fault) or is it most likely something else, i unplugged the air sensor at the throttle body (not the throttle sensor but the other one around there) and it made the problem a lot worse but it was the same sorta problem.
Its not a huge problem as it goes away itself and its only if u really stab the accelerator just after starting, but yeh it doesnt sound the best at the engine end, as for the exaust end it actually sounds good as it makes a deep rumble and gurgle.

you could have a vacuum leak somewhere, u'd have to narrow down where the sound is coming from.
it may just be the normal sound the CAI creates, but you mentionedif sounds like its not doin anything for about .5 of a second, thats totally normalbut if i stab the accelerator the car almost dies (stops firing a couple cylinders it seems) for a few seconds then revs up as normal![]()
if it runs rough for a couple of secs then revs fine, u'll most likely have sparkplug/lead problem, thats at a quick guess.
Check your error codes (how-to section) that may give us more info on what could be the cause
sounds like the same problem a lot of us are having. check out the thread VS rough on start up, then fine
we havent fixed it yet either but same problem

have u re mapped ur computer for CAI, which can be done by removing your engine module then putting it back in and starting the car and holding it at 2000 rpm for 5 mins your computer will re calibrate for the CAI. As that is what i had to do when i put my pod filter on my VX to get air / fuel ratio correct again
Good Luck
the ecu is self learning, there really isnt much u u need to do.. occasionally u need to reset the ecu, to which you either remove the engine fuse, or remove the + lead off the battery generally 5 mins, sometimes it takes longer to clear the ecu.
thats what i ment theres no diffrence between removing the battery lead or engine module u get the same result my mates that have had VR-VS before they updated found a better outcome from removing engine module
mine had this problem before i installed my CAI and still does it after.

have u checked your injection system, it sounds like there could be a probably there and if all else fails take it to holden and get them to run dignostic check on it
Yeh the only problem is it fixes when its warm and iv had a faulty coil pack b4, that didnt fix ever. and also the air sound could well just be the CAI sucking.i had a problem sounded something similar (97 vs ute)
when i stabbed the accelerator the engine shook around sounded like it wanted to stall...one of the coil packs died...
i didnt have that air noise problem tho.
But wouldnt the injections always have a problem not just when cold?have u checked your injection system, it sounds like there could be a probably there and if all else fails take it to holden and get them to run dignostic check on it
I might try resetting the ECU cos the CAI scoop has been off the car for a while but still i cant imagine its gona help the cold start problem.
Anyway its not a huge problem just a bit bugging but it doesnt take long to go away and then i can stab the accelatator as hard as i want at idle ant it will respond instantly

when i had my injector problem it was only on start up from to much fuel leeking thru the o rings
