Default shock absorbers for VR with IRS

I was looking under the car today while the auto was being serviced and noticed the rear shockies (and probably the front) look like the originals.

Anyone know whats a good shockie at a fair price,I dont need anything fancy?
Its just a work hack, not lowered or anything,.

If they're not leaking and the car doesn't show any signs of them not doing their job then there will be little to gain...maybe a thinning of the wallet as you'll have little change out of $400. My opinion only.

yeah for the price KYB. Monroe if you want to support the Aussie economy.
The rears are piece of cake to DIY. GSL sells KYB pretty cheap.

Definitely. Monroe are way overpriced for their performance and quality. Their entry level stuff, which is about KYB price, isn't anywhere near as good. The GT Sport is getting up there, but by that stage so does the price.

Monroe if you want to support the Aussie economy.
Monroe is just a rebranding of America Giant Tenneco:

Ok, so buying KYB's is supporting the Japs, but then as with Monroe it also goes through 3 companies in Australia before getting to the customer, so much of a muchness really...

    GSL sells KYB pretty cheap.
A full set of KYB shocks to suit VR with IRS normal height would be $374

Thanks for the replies. I got quoted $795 from one suspension shop to supply and fit Monroe Gas shockies and do a wheel alignment.
Ill keep looking for a while.
The old ones dont ride to bad but going through some S bends on the freeway entrance made the car sway to the point where I thought the ass end was going to overtake the front.

Diesel Dude, my advice is go and buy some heavy duty shocks for the rear only, and fit them yourself. There is only 1 bolt on the bottom and one nut on the top so its a 5 minute job for a 5 year old, and that way labour is free. Then see how the car rides after that and go from there. I found this stiffened up the back end nicely on mine. I used pedders sports rider shocks in the back for this reason, no doubt other brands would do same job. just my 2cents
