    Default my vs won't start

    hey mates..

I don't know what's happening with my vs today, as I turn the key, there is nothing happening, the electrical seems okay as the dash lights goes on but when the key is turned fully there is nothing happening at all, no sound. No start.

I noticed it has been going funny since is bought it. Sometimes you would turn the key and there would be a few seconds delay before the battery would kick in.

Is that any common problem on vs?

    Cheers.

Ps: The gear handle is on P.

hmm certainly is a tricky issue your having, I would probably start by checking error codes, see the how to section for this information...

next to that there maybe no charge in your battery, your earth cable maybe loose, your ignition barrel maybe stuffed, there maybe a short somewhere..
it's really to vast of an issue to indicate what it is at this stage...
So as above check error codes, and those couple things mentioned and get back to us
    Good luck mate

before restting ECU you need to check the error codes in your car...

    hmmmm...try this

every time you start your car start in neutral and tell us if it starts straight away.

if it DOES start all the time, then you have a problem with the inhibitor switch in the auto selector

I have tried to start it in N.. same deal

I'm trying now to reset the computer. To my sense it must be an electronical problem, regarding the battery seems ok, I have 12v and I got a reading of 13A with a load on it.

I've unplugged the battery, foot on the break for a long minute, the removed the fuses for the same amount of time, tried to start.. nothing happened.

The ecu codes says "12". The battery is fine.

does your remote work a fair way from your car? key battery could be on its way out. or it may not be making proper contact on the metal around the ignition barrel

I would try hooking a multimeter to the 12v supply to the starter solenoid and see if you are getting current when you try and turn it over.

Not trying to start a fight, maybe your hydrogen stuff is the problem? Unhook that see what happens?

before attempting to crank over the car, when you have turned the key to show up your dash lights, do you hear the fuel pump engage?
i have a feeling it could be a bad connectivity between the key head, and the ignition...

If the immobiliser light is still flashing when your dash lights are ON it will be the keyreader, take the key out and try again.
You may need to do this a few times.

Okay job done. It was the ignition barrel that got worn out and finally broke.

120 bucks for a new one is that a fair deal?

Thanks everyone for the support you guys are legends.

I paid $60 for mine new from autobarn but that was on special so i dont think $120 is to bad! I also had this problem with my car (and i still have it) for some reason i have to press the "UNLOCK" button a few times on my key head with the key in the barrel and then it starts without a drama! I would say my battery for my key head is stuffed and giving a weak signal to the BCM, so if this happens again mate, just try that!

I have the same problem with my vs, dash lights on but no crank, the local dealer has replaced the key battery and reprogrammed it but it still does it intermittenley. sometimes shifting the transmission shifter through from rev to low helps but not everytime. the local dealer has checked the park/nuetral switch but every time i take it there it behaves itself. Any other ideas?
