hello all again.....
i have been having a few problems with my fuel gauge. i sorta fixed it bye putting a new float arm on it but now at 1/4 tank it just drops to empty, i know its the sender unit but i carnt buy a new one anywere.
now rare spairs do new units but only for 85L and 80L tanks for sedans, i didnt think there was a 85L tank for the sedan or was there? so i guess my question is what size tanks are there ment to be. 62L and 80L or is there a nother 85L in the range also....?.....

if i can not find a unit to fit my std tank ill look for a bigger tank so i can have a new sender unit? also will the 80L - 85L units work in the tank?
i got my last sender off holden bout 1year ago for 63L tank
apparently statesman caprice and utility and extended rage option fuel tanks vary in size. my book lists 63L for sedan and 68L for wagon. i know the long range tanks where 80L but havent heard of a 85L jobby.
Just remember the switch for the two on the back of the dash cluster if you do decide to go bigger![]()
VR Fuel Tanks:
V6 Sedan: 63L
V6 Wagon: 68L
V8 Sedan: 80L
V8 Wagon: 68L
VS Fuel Tanks:
V6 Sedan: 59L
V8 Sedan: 73L
Wagon: 68L
Ute: 64L
So yeah, no 85L tanks from factory.
i picked up a second hand 63ltr V6 tank and put my original pump and filter from my first tank in that (as my original tank split) and i seem to be getting a wrong reading on my fuel guage saying i have half a tank after putting about $40 bucks worth of fuel in there when it was already just under quarter? :S
maybe use original pump and sender?
do the V6 fuel pumps fit straight onto a V8 fuel tank ? so i could fit one to my acclaim as a straight swap ?
i can calibrate your sender for 70 dollars
SIR LS1
the two ton go kart
The VR and VS tanks are the same. The only difference is that the VS capacity has been reduced to the capacity if filled to the first click, as recommended in the owners manual.
you can use the standard sender just need the longer float arm and to flick the switch to 80 behind the cluster
my std sender is stuffed but i have a good float arm from a vp (currently to get me self out of truble i have the orignal vr sender and vp float arm, this made the gauge work from 1/4 up but below is hopeless...) if i use the good vp float arm on the 85L sender unit it should be ok? all else fales ill just go and get a 85L tank from a sedan and get a new sender unit and be done with it.....
so at the end of the day.. whats the best size tank to go for? and what sender...
i think my sender might not be in level maybe, ive been on just under half a tank the whole day after a full day of driving although the guage does go up and down
swerl pot, is that the plastic pot thing in the center of the tank
i saw that when i put it in, i tried getting it inside that, where should it sit?
The return line should connect up to a line that comes from the swirl pot.
is this on the inside or outside of the tank?
bcoz i have one line that it just blocked up with a screw as i dont know where it goes
my fuel pump has two lines coming out of that which i have connected up, then there is one more to the left hand side of that (as your looking at the tank from the back) which i dont know what it connects upto?
maybe thats my problem? or maybe its not in straight?
are you talking about the fuel tank has 3 pipes coming off the top of it or we talking about hoses round the front where the pump is?
there are 2 types of tanks, 1 with 2 pipes on top of the tank, and the other with 3 pipes on the top of the tank.
i kno my VS V6 uses the tank with 2 pipes.
