I finally got headers for my stato after a small modification. First off they bent a power steering tube so it was like driving a damn bus for a day. This is now fixed, but was a concern.
When i got it back from them fixing the steering and doing a FREE brake and suspension check, my airbag light will not turn off!. I called my local Holden dealership to see if what they have done might have caused it, couldn’t get an answer unless i paid them $50-$100 to press a button.
is it possible a sensor was put it wrong somewhere, or grease from their hands might have caused this or im hopeing a fuse or something simple, or was it all just coincidence like the exhaust shop said it was?? seems suspect to me?
thanks
take it back and make them fix it or get them to pay for it.
Unfortunately to remove the airbag warning light you need to go to Holdens or an auto elec with the special tool to reset it. The most common scenario which causes the airbag light to come on is when the dash or part of it is removed or disconnected and then the ignition is turned on with the dash removed. Maybe the mob that installed the headers accidently caused this when fitting....but its hard to prove and if they don't admit liability then its up to you to prove they did it....which is just about impossible and a big big hassle.
I'd take it back them and tell them your story...play it cool and don't push them...if they are honest and reasonable they will fix it for you. If not then I'd pay up and get an auto elec to reset it, and put it down to bad luck.
thanks for your response, hako. i couldn't see them removing the dash or anything like that. i did basic fault finding this afternoon like fuses, disconnecting the battery etc but its still there. i'll call in a see the manager tomorrow and explain how it only appeared after being with his mechanics. or like you said a horrible coincidence of bad luck and cop the service charge.
thanks
