Hi, this morning my car started acting up, takes ages to go between gears revving really high the yellow engine light is on but my knowledge of cars is pretty bad I made it home, I know ive gotta take it / tow it to a repair place I was just wondering if anyone has any idea what could be wrong with it b4 I tow apologies for the vague details.
Cheers Hojoc.
The problems your suggesting means your in "Limp home mode" this to me could be any number of things, chances are this is your trans about to die!
I would highly recommend checking your cars error codes, by looking in the "How to section" of this forum...
find out what codes your getting and get back to us
good luck mate
Cheers for that.
Ok i just did the computer test does anyone know what this means ?
Code 25 - Mass Air Temp Sensor (MAT) low voltage
I had the same thing ages ago (not the error code), I broke a trans line and it leaked all the fluid out. Have a look to see what the fluid level is.
Well that would explain why I saw some liquid about ? or i might have been seeing things in any case ill have to wait till monday for the pro's to check it out.
Thx for your input guys.
Hi Hojoc, your problem sounds like the same as one I had with my VS 6 cyl.
I bought mine in 2001, and not long after, it started doing as you described. It would change gears hard, and start idling fast. The longer I drove it the worst it got. If I was 20 minutes from home when it started doing it, by the time I got home, it was changing gears real hard, thumping into gear would be a better description, and when sitting at traffic lights, it was revving really high, about 3000 or more RPM. If I let it sit overnight, it would be OK in the morning, it might do it again later that day, or a week later, it was really intermittent. The engine light did not always come on when it was playing up. I took it to a Holden dealer, but it would not play up, and the only error code they found was to do with the O2 sensor, they said this would not be causing the problem I described.
One night it started doing it again, and something made me jab the PWR button, the one that changes the shift points with the gear box. It was more like I jaberated it…. about fifteen times. It has never played up since. I assumed it was a dodgy connection or signal to do with the PWR circuit. I never had any leaks from the gear box, before or since.
I hope this helps point the way to fixing your problem.
Cheers.
Thx chappo.
