    Exclamation VS Dash Loom Issues

Heres the situation. I have a VS ute series 2 ute and it had the typicall level one dash so i upgraded it a put a statesman dash in it and i plugged it straight into the original loom. Every thing worked speedo, tacho ect but none of the LCD windows but i new they wouldntnt in the old loom. I obtained an actuall VS Statesman loom and i was under the impression that it was relatively the same as the old loom bar the rear window heat switch, the trip computer connector, and the absence of the aircon switch. Now thinking id be smart, i just wired the aircon switch into the statesman loom and job done. Or so i thought. Heres the problem-I plugged everything up and the trouble begins. The glove box light doesnt work, The hazard light switch doesnt work, neither does the security light, the trip computer does activate the fuctions on the dash, the fuel gauge works, tacho doesnt work, speedo doesnt work, temp gauage doesnt work, and even though the LCD screens come on and show some numbers, there not recording if you get that. The backing lights for the dash dont work and there numerous other things like the tail lamps being out as well as the interior lights. The temp light also stays on when the engine is running.
The only thing i can think of is that the 3 connectors that plug into the back of the dash maybe around the wrong way or upside down as they seem to fit anyway lol?. Anyway that the drama. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Isn't the level one in-compatible with Levels 2 and 3?
Did you have a tacho on your old unit?

Youd be best to just put the new loom in properly. Sounds like you fugged somthing up. Also how did you hook up the 4th dash plug into the old loom, would have been a bit of a task with the old loom still in?

Don't know if it's how the op did it, but I just popped the two out on the right, took them to the side and worked on it that way, then put them back.
The one on the left was a PITA, but at least it only required one wire to be added

just seems like alota work as opposed to just slipping the dash out and swapping the loom

I think whilst it took a little more effort, it was less effort than taking the dash out.

You dont have to take the dashpad out ......just undo instrument connector 1 to just lugged wires unplug all the connectors and release cable ties ,tape up anything that might snag and slide the whole loom with extra draw wire attached to glovebox light connector out thru right hand door vent hole...slide new modified dash loom back in using draw wire and reassemble/reconnect.
Stato dash loom plugged into main exect loom wont work with interior light and air con due to different level of bcm and air con because of climate control...but all the L3 dash functions should work....plug in your old dash and see if that works.

A Berlina/Calais loom wont work in a Commodore/Acclaim car. The rear demist,A/C, dash lights, interior lights, wipers and headlights are operated differently as these items are controlled by the BCM. Ute,Low and Mid BCMs have 2 plugs and High and Lux BCMs have 4 plugs.
To fit a level3 dash to a commodore or acclaim you need to remove the section of loom from the donor car that runs the lcd display and control pad. Remove this section where it splices to the main loom and graft it into the commodore loom, from memory the colors of the wires in both looms is the same. The fuel load wire for the trip computer is already in the commodore loom.
The level 3 dash can have its odometer reset to match the reading of the removed dash, costs around $50.
The trip computer will need to be reset (re learn) to be accurate in the new car. This procedure is in the workshop manual.
    Hope this helps.
