need urgent help

Hi everyone , well i just tried to start my car to go to work and it will not kick over . its a vs commodore v6 , i have checked the error codes and it comes up 12 ( which is good) but it just refuses to start im thinking it might not be getting any fuel the motor is turning over but nothing is happening and i have tryed to start it so many times the battery is starting to go flat grrrrr .... does the fuel pump show up on the error code thing ?????

any help would be great .. need to fix it today lol

Is the security light on or off when you try to start it?

no lights at all when i try and start it

when i turn the key and listen it makes a nasty noise , and i few times prior to this it would be hard to start take a few gos then once it started it would be fine all day until it sat still for a while without being started ...

Maybe a crank angle sensor or coil pack?

it sits next to you bottom pulley/hamonic balancer and tells the computer were the crank is positioned

Can you hear the fuel pump prime? Its either going to be lack of fuel or spark.

If you can hear the fuel pump prime there is a good chance fuel is making it to the engine. Your battery and stater is ok.

Just to confirm, you watched code 12 come up 3 times and then looked for fault codes, but 12 just came up again?

No there is no code for the fuel pump.

You need to check if there is spark from the spark plug leads and using a multimeter check for a signal at the injectors. If you have spark you need to start checking fuel side of things.

Yeah make sure fuel pump is priming. The fuel pump could also make a wierd noise when there's no fuel in the tank? sounds stupid but its happened to alot of people thinking its their fuel pump cause it makes a wierd noise yet there is no fuel in the tank.

Then you can check if fuel gets to the engine bay.

Then check for spark.
Its either one or the other.

yeah my mum had the same prob with her vp v6, hard to start but once running would be fine to shut down and start up straight away, but if you left it it would be hard to start again...

does it blow black smoke when starting????

sounds like crank angle sensor. same as my mum's... after a while it didn't even pick up after 100kph... stopped accelerating
