    Default vr ute bug catcher

hi everyone i've been playin with the idea for a while of making a custom twin throttle manifold for my buick v6 and just want your opinions on it.

basically the plan is to take the old manifold and cut the top off it. Then i was going to put a like a cube chamber on top to distribute the airfolw. The 2throttlebodies would come out vertically and poke through the bonnet with an old school bug catcher scoop on top.

I've included some basic pics to give you the general idea, so what do you think good? gay? rice? be honest please thanks

also wanted to add my car has an aluminium roll bar and stainless side skirts so the shiny scoop shouldn't look to out of place

It looks good there but I just can't picture it on a VR..
I think if the VR was kitted, lowered, mags, and in general looked really mean, then you could probably pull it off, but on a unkitted VR I don't thinkso..

It would definately suit a ute much much better..
I think the VR and VS sedans are a bit hard to do sometimes

yeah because i drive on dirt all the time (as much as i'd like to) i can't really put a kit on it would just get trashed as i said i have the skirts and rollbars and its ridin on superlows all round so its pretty low.

I would sit the bottom of the bug catcher at the front pretty much level with the bonnet

sorry, I meant a kitted sedan, you have a ute, I don't think the utes need a kit to look tough, I think once lowered, they aleady look quite mean..

it has been done, and there is a thread possibly in the v6 modi & developement that i posted pics up of a vr with the same setup as your wanting. twin throts and bugcatcher.

EDIT: Ok had a search for that thread, looks like its gone.. so here are the pics.. first 5pics are with out throts, basically bug catcher tacked on to plenum, plenum modified somehow, and the 6th pic is of twin throts and i believe its just under a scoop on the bonnet.

Now the bug catcher becomes your throttle hence the linkages and butterflys, so you wouldnt actually need to use standard throttlebodies, just mod your plenum attach bug catcher and away you go. If you still wanted twin throts you would need a scoop (like in 7th pic) becoz its only a scoop and not a throttle body like the bug catcher

Lots of dirt is not cool.
I drive hundreds of ks a year on gravel and dirt. The air filter is grotty as from it each time. Even fourbies with snorkles are going to get dirty. Having it that close?

that thread is definatly gone i had picks in it and they arnt here no more it was the big crash that lost them.i like the idea myself but ide go with the 3 petal bugcatcher and twin T/B's as the bugcatcher by itself wont regulate airflow enough at small tps settings.habe a look on youtube theres 3 vids of vn's with twins straight up out the top of the bonnet need a good tune they run lean as and ping from all the extra air they let in
I tune the oldschool way fear on the passengers face and knuckle colour cant go wrong
tabbacco is still my favorite vegetable

thats what i was going to do twin TB's with either two small pod filters and the scoop or make a panel filter fit over the top like in the pics and i've realised that it might run lean so i'd probably have to get bigger injectors

just a tune should be enough the stock injectors should handle it .
