my auto trans has stuffed itself in my vr berlina. for a couple of week it was clunking into drive and banging into 3rd gear from second. now when i put it into drive you cant even feel it engage and when i take off the car revs upto 2,000 or so and VERY VERY SLOWLY starts to move off. its slipping like crazy on me through all the gears. im not even sure if im getting 4th the car is doing about 2,000-2,500 rpm at 100k's on the freeway. however revers is working just fine. ive check fluids and everything all looks fine.
ive been looking round for a reco auto. what i was to know is just how big a job it is going to be to remove the old auto and fit the new one can it be done with the car up on wheelramps or axle stands? ive replaced autos on othercars just not a commodore before.
cheers.

buy yourself a gregorys manual.
it explains in step form how to remove the gearbox and re install etc.
will help for future reference too
