auto trans error code help

i just checked the error codes on my vr v6 auto. it has been slipping like crazy. when i take of the car will rev upto 2000-3000 but it will only crawl off and very very slowly speed up. at 100k's im pulling over 2000rpm and i dont think im even getting 4th gear. feels like driving with the hand brake on.

the erro codes i got back are as follows.

Code 66 - 3-2 Shift Control Solenoid Circuit Fault - Auto Transmission Only

Code 67 - TCC ON-OFF Solenoid Control Circuit - Auto Transmission Only

Code 81 - 2-3 Shift Solenoid “B” Fault - Auto Transmission Only

Code 82 - 1-2 Shift Solenoid “A” Fault - Auto Transmission Only

is this something i can look into fixing myself or is it as a suspect that i need to get myself a new transmission? i can get a used one thats been reco 18,000k's ago for $250 im guessing this fault would cose me a lot more to fix?

Hey mate, the same happened to me on take off, i would accelerate and it would rev up to about 3000 but like you said it would just crawl pretty much. Sometimes mine wouldn't even shift into 2nd and it would slip like mad. I don't think i had the problem you have with travelling at 100km but then again i never took notice lol. My dad who is a mechanic went his mates transmission place and he told him that its probably a broken piston or something like that and would cost me around $600- $800 for a rebuild to fix all problems. So i just went a bought a tranny from the wreckers for $330 and put that in so i would suggest you take the one for $250. That is very cheap considering it has been reco'd, $330 was the cheapest i found and the 2nd cheapest was $550 from another wreckers.

Sounds like your car is in "Limp Home Mode" (google that for explanation) - check the trans fuse first (it supplies power to the solenoids) because if that blows it will cause your problem.

and its the same codes someone on here had the other day when the wiring inside the box came unplugged plug is inside the pan.

yeah i thought of that already when i saw a few other post's on it. but i don't think i am as limp home mode your ment to have 3rd gear and revers. i tried changing the gears manually when i was round 50-80 k's and i can definetly feel it change gears if i change between 2nd and 3rd so i cant be in limp home.

i will however check the fuse. even if it gets me going until i pickup this new trans as i know mine was on its way out anyway so its in my best interest to replace it and for $250 for a tranny that was reco 15,000 k's ago is not too bad.

ill have a look at that when replacing the tranny. im getting the new one today so ill save myself from replacing lost fluid from checking that incase thats not the problem. if i didnt have the new trans lined up i would check that for sure. cheers.

my transmission has been on the way out for a while anyway so i know i need a new one or a rebuild.
