you need to remove the strip that locks the doorsill to the kickpanel. remove the side airvent that attaches to the dash, and u'll see another screw behind there. i cant remember if i really needed to, but i removed the glovebox coz there was a screw underneath.

there are black clips around the ecu, gently unclip them and you can remove the ecu from its mounted position.

on the other side are 2 screws holding a metal door/flap, remove them and you can lift the door up/off and under there is the chip.

From memory they are torx screws. They shouldn't be tight though, you might manage with a jewellers screwdriver.

you might be able to get them off with a flathead screwdriver thats the right size, but you might end up wrecking the thread. will work thou.

sounds like you might have that shield thing in front of your ecu. you will have to drill the rivets out. ecu is behind it. did vr's have this shield?

Not sure, i thought they had the small bolts like VN's and VP's, and then the VS's had the torx screws? If it does have the torx screws, you can buy a torx screw head set from supercheap / autobarn / repco for sweet F/A.

It's a good investment. I hope you didn't buy the chip off Ebay.....

the ECU isnt in the kick panel, its the PCM.

you unscrew the bracket and unplug the pcm first.

once you have that out the pcm slides out of the bracket, and then you open the metal container with a torx screwdriver
