Default Springs/Shock Lowering Price. Does This Sound Good?

I have been quoted $950 to get my VR lowered with King Springs to sit just about the top of the tyres. The price includes Boag Shocks (Are these any good?) but the price does not include a wheel alignment.

I think it is a bit pricey as I was quoted by pedders $1500 to lower and get other things fixed up on the suspension. I can get 10% off that price at Pedders due to being a RAC member so it will cost me about $1350.

So the does the 1st price sound decent or too pricey?

I believe there was a thread not long ago about this exact thing, with a heap of info in it. try a quick search and u should find it.

a quick rough price break down
    front shocks = 150-250
    front springs = 150-200
    rear shocks = 100-200
    rear springs = 100

rear shocks and springs are piss easy to change, easily done in about an hour with minimal know-how. fronts are a little harder coz you need spring compressers or an angle grinder to get the old ones out.

i think its not a bad price, but you could save a bit on labour and use that saving to get ur wheel alignment done, which you will need.

Ok cool I will try and look for the other threads. I am not technical savvy when it comes to those things so I would have to get whatever done for me. Thanks for your help though. I guess I am trying to work out what it best for me.
The shocks are the originals I believe. I would love to lower the car but it is only my daily drive to work and back and some weekends but I like the lowered look.
I have a 3 inch Lukey cat back but would love extractors on my 5L. Been quoted $1000 to supply/fit Pacemakers. I know you dont get too much sound out of them but I would love that extra get up and go.
I need tint though and been thinking about getting Midnight Express tint.

I have about $1000 to spend and I am trying to work out the best way of getting what I really need/want.
Aestetics over performance or visa versa.

lol its always a tough choice deciding which way to go. a stock commodore looks good just lowered even with standard rims. if you want to do some more performance mods you will need to lower the car eventually to get ur centre of gravity point as low as possible, this will aid you in handling which is what you really need when you have power. helps keep you on the road.

i would say, get your suspension done first, even if not lowered, but get all your bushes replaced and u'll be suprised how new and different to drive it'll feel afterwards. see if you can combine the lowering job with some front end bush replacement, will give you the handling and look your after. safety at the end of the day is more important over power.

Good luck which ever way you decide

I have been supplying Ultima shocks for over 12 months now and haven't had any problems. They are a good middle of the range shock.
