No, it wont effect the car in anyway.

nah mate the gearbox slips it in automatically like a clutch would. jus go easy if its at high revs like first to second for example when ur sittin on 70 clicks. i do it all the time so i can actually hear my exhaust
if its too loud your too old
The box will only change at certain revs, i fail to see how it can do any damage.
Its not like a manual when you can whack it in 1st doing 150.

Of course a tran rebuilder is going to tell you theres something wrong with your trans. If he tells you its perfect, he doesn't get any business does he....

sure the gearbox will only drop when its safe. but not dropping at all and using the brake.
will make your gearbox last alot longer. unless ofcourse you are going down a hill and need to maintain a certain speed.
it also depends on the condition of your box. if its allready worn. id be treating it carefully.
LOL how long though have you had the auto's?
my auto lasted just over 6 months.
the first 3 months it worked without a problem.
the richard told me to use it manually and within 2 months the box started slipping extremely bad. i mean you had to back off the accelerator for the thing to actually change.
manualy shifting up doenst hurt . its down shifting that kills the box
dont hold the gears specialy at high revs. blew my 3rd gear few months back from always downgearing . if u realy want to manualy shift all the time get a stage3 fully manualised auto =) kinda spewing i didnt do that when i got my auto rebuilt
Why??? What benefit are you going to get from changing it manually? The only time I change gears in an auto is for engine braking, generally from D to 3rd, the only other time Ive bothered to go lower is when I discovered I had no brakes and needed a way of slowing down but not enough to warrant the handbrakes plus handbrake plus 100km/h cant be the greatest idea. Oh and if I have cruise set, ill manually drop it to 3rd on a hill as cruise seems to like grabbing 2nd![]()
lol no benefit some ppl just have to fiddle around will driving i guess
talking to Stealthy Haydz.
8 years on my VL.
Converted my international, so couldn't tell ya.
The other Auto's i've had i've sold, with working auto's

bought my auto ute at 144,000k's sold it at 275,000k's ALWAYs manual changed it and always slammed it into first down changing. it chose first when it wanted too at about 50'ks ( i thought i would be happy in an auto, clearly wasnt - didnt care if i blew it up coz it would give me an excuse to convert it) serviced it regularly and never had a drama with the box, still changed as good as it did when i bought the car no whines or anything like that.
i thought the 4speed boxed had "clutches" not bands?
