just trying to get around the bcm sercurtity as the key does not work and there is no ignition barrel
There's an item the 4wd websites sell, that emulates the BCM (for security), you're probably better off getting some new proper stuff though

well if its like the VT setup, not sure tho, but VT you can leave the ignition switch turned to reds for one or two hours and the immobilisor light will stop flashing which means the security is disarmed.

you dont need a ignition barrel, just the black switch part that sits behind the barrel (or even just the wires)
And i think he does have the BCM so i dont think thats a problem is it...

Is it for an executive or higher model. If it's a higher model then there is a security feature that will not allow any injector pulse if the keyhead and the BCM are mismatched.
It doesnt matter what model it is the keyhead and BCM have to match otherwise what good is the immobiliser? or what would be the point of having a security coded key head at all.

and also, if the keyhead and BCM didnt match (or u had no keyhead at all) any model will still start after an hour or two on reds

I beg to differ, I have a VR Stato and when I changed the motor and ECU over out of a VS acclaim I had them, the stato got no Injector pulse. I had to get hold of a High level BCM, put the upgraded BCM in and the car fired straight away.
You can leave the car ignition on for a week but if the BCM and ECU are different levels the car WILL NOT START hence the immobiliser is working.
speak from experience.
i wasnt argueing the fact that they need to match, i was actually saying no matter what level the key and head NEED to match to do a normal start.
To get any start at all yes, the ECU and BCM need to be of the same level obviously (thats not the immobilisor working, its just like trying to get a XBOX to read a Playstation Disc) unless u redid the whole wiring in ur car as urs has a much different security system to a VS acclaim it wouldnt have worked.
What i was saying is tho, provided the BCM matches the car and ECU, u dont need the right keyhead or any key head at all to start it using the method i mentioned.

I believe you can leave the reds on for 45mins regardless of the series but the second time you have to leave it in there for allot longer a few days maybe.
I've had to do it alot and yeh sometimes iv had to leave it for upto 3hours, could be due to being done multiple times, but i dont think it would be more than that long

I think it's 72 hrs after the 2nd or 3rd go. Could be wrong though.
what is this "reds" business? i read somewhere that if u turn it to the "Start" position you can have the same outcome. My immobiliser kicks in after about 1min of unlocking the car with the remote after that minute u cant start it with the key n have to lock then unlock the doors again to be able to start it. havent had a chance to try leaving it for a while though.
the "reds" is the second click
start is only the bit that makes the car start, then it moves b ack to the reds
(called the reds cause the red lights on dash). it's officially called the "ON" position

as long as ucu and bcm are matched, your keyhead and key reader does not have to be matched, just leave ignition on for 45 mins before starting. thats a safety feature allowing owner to take it to holden to have car fixed if your keys get damaged or wet.....and so on.
ar damn it and oh well got nasty and chopped off the fuses :P
to contridiction to what some users have said about this car oil is clean, coolant is clean and has had a magor service, should be safe to say its a goer just from veiwing it
I thought it starts first click? That's what he said.
haha ignition screwed up , motor had a shit load of new bits in it and actually looked like it had started and ran since the crash
