I have this posted in the electrical part of the forum also, but cause this poses a more serious issue i need some urgent help guys and post it here also..
basically my low beams come on when i am braking, I have no idea where to start looking...
I havn't changed any bulbs recently, not in about 6 months or so... everything was working fine up until this morning when i had noticed it driving to work as people were flashing me and i didn't know why!!!
So any hints tips or a place to start looking would be apprciated!!!
Thanks guys!
If you've got cruise control, it could be connecting to any of the switches, otherwise there is only one brake switch.
I'm guessing that when you turn your low beams on, your brake lights come on as well?

My Holden doesn't leak, It's just marking it's territory!
Recheck any electrical work you've done on the car recently - these things don't just happen! Swap the relays around (the ones in the engine bay). Check the stoplight bulbs are correctly fitted and the correct type. Check the earth to tail-lights/stoplight circuits and same for headlight earth. Check battery earth. Good Luck.
Thanks for your replies guys, I think i may have found the source of the issue...
As i havn't done any recent electrical work and I don't have cruise installed I figured it had something to do with a short in the loom itself...
So in the end i think it's the rear double fillament bulbs for the rear lights, as when these start to short out, or fail the signal is lost and is returned to the headlights, hence why they come on when i brake!
That or the 6 and 7 pins in my trailer connection are touching and are causing this to happen also!
So i'm going to inspect the trailer plugs and bulbs after work tonight, and post a fix if this is solved!
Thanks guys!
I'll bet a 6 pack on the trailer plug wiring....something I should have thought of![]()
hahhaa, nope all the above was wrong, the trailer plug isn;t a round plug, it's squre so there was no physical way of them shorting out... it ended up being the wireing in the loom fraying away and shorting...
fun and games grrrr
