the name says it all ^^
i dont really wanna disonnect the battery encase it resets something but will just spraying good amout of dregreaser on it and a brush clean the terminals up nicely then wash it off?
Only thing it should reset might be your radio presets. If you have a factory radio, make sure you have the pin number, but other than that there's no problem disconnecting the battery. It's a common thing to do when you work on the car.
As for cleaning it, just use a wire brush to clean the terminals, and use a damp cloth to wipe it down. I wouldn't spray degreaser on it, if it's really grimy maybe spray a little on a rag and wipe it, but don't go nuts.

ahh kk yeah i got factory radio dunno its PIN tho wud spraying a lil bit of degreaser on the connecting be ok just to sofen the muck up (i got a lil pile of it there) then just use the wire brush to clean it up
oh ok ive never disconnected them before aye, anyone wanna explain it to me
undo the nut/bolt
wiggle it round till the terminal moves from the battery post
awsome, now what will happen to my radio as its the factory one?
lol dude ur funny
just in case ur seriousyes we all have to start somewhere
10mm socket or spanner, undo the nut (u dont have to remove it) then it should be loose enough to wiggle off, wire brush the battery terminal (carefull not to short the 2 together) then wire brush the wire terminal (the big loop, dont know the proper name) then place the ""the big loop"" back on the battery pushing down all the way, then do up the nut again.
repeat the other terminal![]()
bit of soapy water and a rag should do the trick, if its in the vs wouldnt worry bout reseting things as long as uv got the stereo codes
warm water with some bicarb soda will help clean it up, it would be better to take the battery out so you can clean it better. while your at it check the fluid levels and top em up if needed, just make sure you dont overfill em lol.
lol yeah thats a good idea taking it out, nah i know not to over fill them, do you's just use normal water or distilled water?
normal water is fine for washing, topping up the battery cells use distilled water
kk cheers for the help everyone
your good lads![]()
Not sure if the VS radio was coded, someone else might be able to help, but assuming it is the code is often written inside the cover of your car's manual. Otherwise Holden are able to find it for you, but depending on where you go they might want a fee for looking it up.

hot water on terminals/wire brush
degrease the engine bay while youre at it
and blast the whole lot off
spray some battery treminal protector on afterwards ( super cheap etc)
wash the whole car while youre at it
cheers
oh ok thanks man, how much is the terminal protector stuff?
I'd agree with this method and then as others have said, a wire brush if necessary. Once they're all clean give both the battery posts and terminal clamps a light wipe of grease. This will prevent any further corrosion for a long time.
As for the standard vs radio, yes you will need to re-enter the 4 digit pin code once the battery is reconnected. As far as I know you are able to obtain this pin for your car from any holden dealership if you can provide them will all paperwork and proof that you own the car in question.
Take the (-) battery terminal off first. Just noticed this has not been said before.
i had a look in my manual and it said my secrity pin number will be on a plate or something in my glove box, i have a quick look but i cant find anythiing, does anyone know where exactly it is?
anyone know where it is??
oh ok my book says its in my glove box, did urs say that too n it wasnt there?
