So ive got a spare Berlina Shell.....and a Spare 253.
reckon its worth chuckin it in?.....
any guides on how to wack a 253 into a VR?????
Can't be registered, not fuel injected, wouldn't a V6 go harder?, etc.
Just a bit weird sticking a bigger engine in than the V6 with less rated power (115kw max vs 135kw on the buick)
i dont think it would be worth whacking in the 253 in the VR for a few reasons
1. 253 is carby, and wont have the injection and polition gear
2. the 253 wasnt offered in the VR range, u can drop later model engines in but not the reversal
3. easier to drop in a 5L with really only the K-frame needing changing. (yes loom n the rest but the loom is fairly easy.
4. will need to get it engineered
5. wont be legal
if you did drop it in, i'd be ok for a 'drag' or 'strip' car, but forget about road legal.

ok....so what do i do with this engine....ha....it's bloody perfect...been rebuilt about 20,000 ks ago...but the HZ tonner it was in got written off the other day....
i was hoping to get it on the road in "A" car..
what about my VL?....or is the RB30 a must have over the 253?
Again there's the issue of roadworthyness, the VL is from 1986 while the last car to feature 253 4.2L V8 was the VH in 1983, so if you have to put it in something I'd go a VH (the car has to be before 1983)... the VK/VL to VT series 1 has 5.0L and 5.7L stroker for the V8s.
Oh, but it depends on if the 4.2L is a blue or red motor, if it's red it can't go in the VH either I don't think

Drop it in and drive it till you get defected....
Sell it - good 253's are pretty rare and should command a good price.
