Default VR Climate Control, feet only??

    Hi Guys,

Ive had an issue for awhile where my climate control now only cools your feet?

A VERY small amount of air comes out of the correct ducts, but most of it hits your feet, no matter which mode its on.

Swapped over the solenoid box thinking that was it, but no, exact same issue.

Anyone got any light to shed on this?

The hoses still seem intact, & with the centre console out, I can see that its blowing from the ducts below those that route to the rear thru the centre console.

    Please help?

are all the vac hoses connected to the valves?

Can you move the side valve (drivers side up under the dash) by hand - ie open and clise the vents.

Also I have printouts at home of all the VQ climate setup from the big book. I can bring them into work if that will help you.

do you mean at the solenoid end? the little rubber vaccum manifold??

Looks like all the hoses from the dash are into the back of the manifold, & then I made sure all the white plugs were snug into the manifold.

Im going to go look for this side valve now!

The vacuum opens the valves to let the small gates open and close - directing air flow. Can you move them by hand - ie not jammed up some how.

OK the vac lines go to something..... what ever they plug into will drive the vents inside the heater box.

All heater boxes have the small round vac units on the heater box - just the CC units are controled electronicly and have the vac pack under the heater box. The standard system had the vac lines hooked up to the twist control knob.

No - should only need to remove the front panel (radio bit) to get to them. Also the black plastic bit under the glove box.

Already have taken off all the radio surrounds etc,

its way way underneath, Im going to have to take out all of the aircon ducts to see if that gives me more room

Check the T piece going onto the manifold again and make sure the one way valve is facing the right way and works. Should be only able to blow through it one way.

thx wavez, Ive narrowed it down to a vaccum issue somewhere involving the black hose....

    Ill check the T-piece again...

Okay, so here is the saga....

after 3 solenoid boxes (yes 3, I went & got ANOTHER one), 2 climate control dash units, 2 spare vaccum diaphrams, & a very handy piece of hose.....

    its fixed!!!

So, we narrowed it down that the dash thingo, is fine.
The solenoid box is working correctly, & using the hose we cycled thru & sucked/blew thru all the valves to check. - Allgood.

So then maybe not getting vaccum in? Checked recently replaced vaccum ball connections, allgood.

CHecked T-Piece has 3 hoses... whoa, one not connected, ah-ha you say? Noooooo, connected said hose, still an issue

Recheck all actuators with the hose.... all of them work....

Back to engine bay, use hose to check vaccum going thru firewall, allgood.

Still why not working?? hmmm, follow all vaccum lines around engine bay, remove engine covers, crawl over manifold....

then sit & think.... did aircon play up before or after new spark leads??? After!!

By feel, find that there is a small nipple for one of the hoses on the t-piece to attach too, guess what? when doing the lead change, have knocked little itty bitty hose off....

for refrence, this hose is located to the right of the dizzy, underneath a larger hose that runs under the dizzy, cant see it, definetly cant take a photo lol

so great drama is finally over, & much dust entered my car after 6mths of no face vents working lols....

(as a side note, I realise that I totally bluffed my way thru regency about the demister.... ha!)
