    Unhappy Fuel Probs

hey having troubles with high fuel consumption and strong fuel smell in cabin when window/windows are down and a hunting miss at 100kph .Have looked all over can't see anything that looks to be leaking had it to mechanic no fault codes and couldn't find any leaks either.Have run injector cleaners thinking injectors may need replacing. Any clues?

When it leaks from the injector rail or hose/connectors it will be under high pressure and evaporate virtually in an instant so you will be flatout seeing the leak. What you can do if you are at your wits end is to thoroughly clean with degreaser all around the pressure regulator, fuel rail, hoses and injectors. Then with the engine running sprinkle baby powder (or any talcum powder) over the bits you've degreased. If there is a tiny almost invisible leak the talcum powder will stick to where the leak is. This is best done with a cold engine so that the fan doesn't come on and blow the talcum powder around.
Also check the hoses going to the charcoal canister next to the radiator - if they split or come adrift you can get a petrol smell.
    Good Luck.
