i know vn_luke put a rb30 in hes vn but i was wondering if its legal for a vr/vs??? for me to get a rwc for it in victoria na rb30 too.. but turbo it after rwc
cheerss guys![]()
I think your only aloud to do it in VN's becuase they came out in 1988 with the VL's. if you do it with a VR/VS it won't pass emissions as it is a later car with an earlier engine (HAS TO BE AN EARLIER CAR WITH LATER EMISSIONS IE: NEWER ENGINE NOT OLDER), i think!!!!
It is legal, VR's run the same emissions ADR. A friend of mine is putting an RB30 into a VR ute very soon now. 1997 is when things changed. ADR 37/00 Runs from the start of unleaded in 1986 to 1997, you can interchange any engine in that range of years as they all passed the same test. From 1997 -2003 is ADR 37/01 from 2003-2007 ADR 79/00, then from 2007- ADR 79/01.
You can put anything from the ADR the car came with in or anthing newer in. But you can not put say a motor From the 80s that was ADR 27a 27b or 27c in![]()
thankss jasonn big help![]()
whats the benefit of an rb30 over a 3.8 ? , just curious.
i would have said the same thing about the buick though.
yeh how much lighter is the VL though. ( i honestly dont know, you guys are the experts )
A VL is about 50 kilos lighter. but the difference in weight will be partly made up by the VN being a much better shape
Does that mean a VN is more aerodynamic than a VL ? I thought the VL would have a much smaller sihlouette than a VN .. but i'm just not up with those old beasts.
why dont you put a buick in a VL and see what happens.
