After i swapped my diff there's a slight whirring noise coming from the rear, now this could very well be an LSD in need of new cones or bearings, but i read in my manual that an out of phase tail shaft could cause whirring.
Is this something i can fix myself and if so, how? Or is it a professional job?
did you pull the driveshaft in half or something
I tune the oldschool way fear on the passengers face and knuckle colour cant go wrong
tabbacco is still my favorite vegetable
Nah i didn't pull it in half. Just disconnected it at the diff obviously. It makes the noise as soon as i touch the accelerator no matter how lightly, but not coasting, does this sound consitent? I'm really just stabbing in the dark here.
youve probably got a sloppy diff with a knaffed bearing or teeth on the crown wheel and pinion

Might change the bearings then, the pinion and crown looked perfect before i installed it.
If it only does it under load chances are it is gears. A bearing in the diff will make noise no matter what. Are they meshed correctly? If the teeth aren't meshed correctly it will whine.
