Update:
Car has clicked over 240,000km's now.
I have a VZ Calais Interior Light/Sunglasses holder, just got to get time to make a custom roof lining to suit.
Found a polish that works on the bullbar - Also awaiting time.
Bought new brake pads, thinking that would sort the brakes out for a little while longer.
Discovered, All 4 rotors worn, Front pads worn, Rear pads worn on a massive angle. Rear caliper guide pins seized (only half the pad makes contact), front caliper work but look pretty sad. Could only fit new front pads, unable to fit rears.
So looks like a 322mm Twin Piston VE Brake upgrade for the front, with RDA High Perfomance pads, Reco'd rear calipers, Bendix CT Pads, and 4 RDA Slotted Rotors all round, is all on the cards for the next month.
Then Ill get some spotties, and new tyres.
I have relativly new tyres (15,000km's old) but they are just ****ing shit, traction problems with an ecotech for a start, but have had the front slide out on a few occasions now, and its not from being a dick, its normal roads/speeds I do every day. One time was at 20km/h going around about a 110 degree bend.

Nice haha!
Should pick up my reco'd rear calipers tomorow.
The rest of the brake stuff should arrive by next weekend hopefully.
New Tyres on Saturday if everything goes to plan, no more shit tyres.
Im excited, suspension is done and handles excellent, now good brakes and tyres. To bad its only got an ecotech pushing it all.
I think i may have seen your ute while driving to traralgon, if it was you looks good. That bar is freaking massive, i wonder how it actually will protect you from roos?
Haha, I gotta get home before dark, hopefully Thursday night I can grab some photos.
Tested it tonight in the dry (finally dry weather), it pulled ****ing hard, Im still amazed how quickly it pulls up, and theres still more to push the pedal down, but havent found the need yet as you get jolted enough as it is![]()
did you have to adjust your load proportioning valve for different brake bias or you just left it alone. mine needs a bit more fine tuning, rears are a tad too strong for the road..
when you were following me up the highway on friday, i was so jealous of your ride quality over the bumps compared to mine![]()
you might have to go and do some testing to find the ideal brake bias balance, nothing worse than getting too strong in the front and locking way too early. my left rear wheel locks first :S not on. you're running stock rear springs though aren't ya? when the previous owner lowered my car, he mustn't have adjusted the valve as it would lock both rears at about 75km with hard braking and get all out of shape even with having engine braking on my side. was a handful on the black stuff, forget gravel. just dangerous.
haha i totally forgot about your brake issues that day, the heat must have been getting to me. i was gonna follow you to your place but was supposed to be somewhere at 6pm haha i was a tad late.
Nice ute mate. Looks really good. Seems that your spending alot of money on it. I could only wish my ute looked as good as yours lol Keep up the good work.
Good point, havent ever locked the rear, but the old pads were worn quite well so there working to some degree lol. Yeah only stock height springs if the rear. The proportoning valve isnt hard to adjust is it?
Heat? I must have had air/con on
Thanks mate, yeah it seems to be a money pit at the moment, but no more money will be spent on until next year, unless I work Christmas in which case Ill buy spotties as a Christmas present to myself![]()
nice ute mate.
Slight update.
Ute now has a new Starter motor after lots of ****ing around, and a new loom from battery to starter, with the main wire being about 3 times the size of the stock one
Also have a WK Statesman 17" rim to get a tyre fitted to and become my spare, having a 15" spare that will only fit on the back is useless.
Also picking up a Canopy on Sunday, one sliding and one pull out window + Carpeted on the inside, should be good for camping.
woo canopy, ute is looking very practical.
could you do a favour for me and measure the distance from the ground to the front of the sill behind the front wheel and the sill to the ground infront of the rear wheel?
what i mean by the front is not the underside, but where the side of the sill that you see starts.
i wanna see how much higher you sit than me with those springs, am thinking about them. how do they ride on the gravel, really rough or pretty good?
No probs, Ill do it tonight, remind me If I dont.
The springs should raise it 30-40mm, but the Bullbar pulls mine back down a bit. My rears are still stock.
Nah handles pretty good on gravel roads, if theres no big pot holes a 100km/h is perfectly fine, if theres pot holes on one wheel, the arse likes to skip out.

apparently wasting my time with 97 cubic inches
milk doesnt come in 1.6 litres
my geminis
I measured where marked on the picture.
Front was 325mm and rear was 355mm, it seems the front has settled about 15-20mm since originally putting the springs in.
Canopy Pictures:
Havent got inside picture yet, buts carpeted, got a light and a 12v fanShould be good for sleeping, also handy caus I can put my shit or bike in and just lock it and not worry about it going walkies.
wow thats heaps higher than mine, i got 265mm for the front and 310mm for the rear.
its just not practical for me to have a lowered car, whenever i take the motorbike or pushy up the bush i just scrape everywhere.
i might figure out if i can get some mud terrains for mine, and the lifted springs, just for the hell of it haha.
You'd get a bit more clearance then me caus I have the bullbar bringing the front back down.
I know what you mean, I still scrap on stuff, but its all in the name of fun, nothing to damage except maybe the handbrake cable. Manual + Sump Gaurd FTW
Haha I looked at some knobleys, pretty much anything decent is 16" and hard to find a low enough profile, but would be possible, there was an XF? Falcon in Raglan St with Knobleys on it.
Lesser news, I suspect my Flywheel is warped, had it machined and it was great, but went over Mt Hotham and the shudder is back and slips a little taking off when really hot. Going to work out what the problem is, but most likely a whole new flyhweel, clutch, throw out bearing etc again, 19,000 Kms old
Been talking with the Missus about an engine and gearbox rebuild to get it over and done with, definitly an option at the moment.
