update: i installed a new alpine head unit, its a Media receiver so its got full ipod controls which is what i want. Took me ages to work out how to take off all the panels but i got there in the end but now i need to take out the whole center console not just the black stuff so i can put a iphone docking station in which should look good. Has anybody ever had a go at taking it out? is it hard? i seen two bolts in the bottom of the armrest box thingie and that's all i have seen with screws...

just a picture of my headunit:

just pop the ashtray out, unplug the cigarette lighter, pull the gearstick leather out of the console (its usually stuck down) and then (yank the plastic bit that sits around the gearstick/cig lighter, etc (its just clipped in), then unzip the handbrake leather, and there's 2 screws at the front of the console pretty much where the lighter was. and yea the 2 nuts in the centre console.

started buying stuff for my sound system, so far i have Focal 6.5" splits and response amp 4 channel.. and now i need a sub and wiring kit. so i have a few questions hopefully someone out there can answer, number one does anybody know about any threads or how i should go about making a 6.5" fit in my door lol and the subwoofer box next to the fuel tank like somebody said it can make ur fuel gauge faulty or something do your guys subs work well in there aswell?

update: my audio install is done Basically new headunit, new Focal Speakers with a 4 channel amp running the speakers and a slimline 12" subwoofer by pioneer. One of the new bi-flat subs they pump! the box for it is in the tray next to the fuel tank and i made a box so that it was fully sealed from everything in the hole...

yes i did fit 6.5" speakers in the door and it was a bitch of a job but def worth it in the end...

    hey mate,

With the 6.5 speakers fitting, in my vs ute i just folded the tabs back half way and screwed them in. stuck in the nice and firm.
Also with the sub, i have a alpine type s 12' under my tray in a sealed box. No problems with fuel and sounds wicked. If you click my link and scroll threw abit youl see a few pictures and i can find the link for the design if you like?

i use tinypic.com to upload each photo then you copy the "IMG Code for Forums & Message Boards" code and paste it and it'll show when you post the thread....
