    Default Mike's Red VR SS

This was my brother's Commodore. He died in an accident over Easter this year, and as a family we decided we didn't want to see a stranger driving his car.

It took a while to get the paperwork sorted but I picked the car up on Monday this week and I'm already hooked, it sounds great, goes well and oozes potential. It has a few things that need fixing or tidying up, so I'm going to take my time and get it right. I can't throw much money at it just now but I'll keep improving it as I can.

I have some big plans for the SS (don't we all?) but the first step is to get it back to a tidy original condition. I'll post plenty of updates as I go so keep and eye on this thread and give me plenty of feedback!

    1993 VR SS (Auto)

    Standard Except for:

    Wheels
    - 17" Motoform
    - 235/45 Kingstar

    Exhaust
    - Standard Manifolds to big bore (I haven't actually looked yet to see what's under there!)

    Exterior
    - Louvres (oh yeah!)

    Stereo
    - Pioneer AVH-P5750DVD Head unit
    - iPod Adaptor
    - 4 x Blaupunkt 10" Subs
    - Velocity VRSIX Amp powering sub box

This is some of the stuff that needs short term attention:

    - New rear bumper
    - Repair dent in bootlid
    - Replace rear springs (nothing fancy yet, back to stock)
    - Fix Central Locking
    - Fit 215/55R16 on 16" Holden wheels (not a fan of the motoforms, and they're pretty scuffed)

Then we can start to look at the fun stuff, which I won't go into just yet because it keeps changing!

Thanks mate. To be honest, your car is the one I keep going back to for inspiration. The ultimate goal will be "better than standard" without going overboard or taking too much away from the original look.

Sorry to hear your misfortune mate, but keep this in his honour I reckon. Have you thought about getting some personal numberplates, something that could represent your brother? Car looks really nice in the pictures aswell

    Default Little Update

Haven't had any reason to post as there have been no changes, just more work to do!

I fitted some new King springs in the rear as the old ones had sagged too much, now the back sits WAY too high. I'm still hoping it will settle down but starting to think it won't.

I've also got a crack in the left manifold and a rooted rear muffler so I'll replace the whole system when some spare money arrives.

Finally, I've still got to get some panel damage fixed in the rear, and respray the front end.

It's all money, and I can't really do the fun stuff until the boring bits are in order...

It's been a while since I updated, so here's what happened recently...

    - panel damage in the rear end tidied up and a few other blemishes taken care of, body kit refitted properly.
    - fitted the clear indicators, I can see why this is so popular, it really improves the look
    - a lot of the annoying electrical stuff fixed (windows/central locking etc)
    - radiator pulled out and repaired (65% blocked!)
    - new fluids in diff, trans, power steering etc
    - new boot carpet
    - got rid of subs in boot (way too big)
    - Dunlop Sport Maxx tyres all round

So I've taken care of a lot of little things that needed doing. Now I can think about doing some fun stuff, but with a wedding to pay for next year, it could be tricky allocating the money!

On top of all that, we've just moved to Wellington so hopefully there will be more of a car scene here to get into...

Looks neat mate. The VS SS (16"s) wheels would look better than the VR SS (15's). Good luck with the future mods, keep us posted.

I think from my last pic the wheels must look like 15"s, it's such a big hole. They are actually 16"s, possibly off a VX sombody told me. I do want to drop the back end a bit lower but where I'm living now the driveway is REALLY steep so it actually helps for now.

Sorry ParkwayDrv, I sold the louvres the other day, it looks much cleaner now. I was going to tint the windows next but the exhaust has finally gotten so bad that I need to do that ASAP. I'm getting quotes atm but I know it's going to cost a LOT more than in Australia...

I'll try and get some good pics on the next sunny day (could be a while).

    Cheers for all the feedback!
