My first car (93 VR)

Hi guys,

Got my first car a few weeks ago. Its a bit rough but im just starting the long process of cleaning it up a bit. The guy who had it before me was a bit of a douche, its pretty dirty inside and for some reason he screwed the dash mat to the dash. But im pretty happy with it considering I only paid $600 for it and its registred until October. We are spraying it next week so hopefully that turns out okay.













Has no mods as of yet which is why I have joined these forums. I dont have alot of money as im still a student but have $500 to spend on the car right now, what should I do first? It needs new tyres to but dads paying for those.

Maybe an exhaust and a cheap head unit so you can play Cd's?

dosnt look to bad. for only $600 cant complain. With your 500 id say get it running its absolute best before your start adding mods. A service it what i would do.

Yeah service it... Done by a mechanic if you're not too confident. If you don't know the mechanic, tell him you have an upper financial limit of $450 and to not do any more work than that...

It got a service 2 weeks before I bought it and I have all the receipts from that.

Hmm... Depends what your after. If you want some noise, go some second hand subs. Some engine noise, get a catback exhaust. Or full exhaust if you find one on the cheap. If you want looks, throw it in the bank til you have enough for rims and/or lower job. You could get a window tint and still have $300 to spare. A mid range stereo with some mid range front splits and *maybe* a low range amp.

First 3 things I'd do.

Exhaust
Stereo
Lower

and then you can do other things, like tint, rims etc later.

Looks pretty decent for the price you paid mate. Well done. I'm on my Ls as well.

oh are you still on your L's? if you are i would be limiting it to a head unit and leave it at that and start saving.

Finally got her sprayed and got clear indicators, new tail lights and new boot garnish.

Sorry about the size they were taken on my phone. It hasnt been polished yet and I havent chucked all the trim and stuff back on.

It was a cheap paint job, so it still has a few dents etc. in it but looks great in the sun. The paint has a silver flake through it.

Hopefully getting statesman seats and door trims on the weekend. Got some ceptors today I'm re spraying because I dont like the wheels but dont know if they will look any good or not? Also re spraying all the black trims etc. to make them look a bit newer.


Other than that I'm leaving it until I get the roady and then exhaust and re tint of the windows.

Yeah I am I just meant the seals around the window etc. that arent back on yet.

be like a lot of other new drivers...leave mags on the front and put stockies on the back...cut the rear springs till it sits on the bumpstops...and keep your $500 for the fines your gonna get...

Finally got everything back on the car, pictures will be up tomorrow. Got a new roof lining today, has the holden logo in it.

Getting a straight pipe put in, not exactly sure what that means (I'm a bit of a car noob) but thats happening after the roady...apparently make it sound better
VT Seats
VS Statesman door trims
Chrome window surrounds
Eletric Windows
Lower
Exhaust
Calais intereior light
Convert dash lights to blue

your calais interior light you can also raid out of a ford as there the same lights,electric windows is going to be a pain as you'll probs need the modulators and a console for the switches,you should so go level 3 dash
