Nice looking car you got there mate, as previously said, drop her and she will look a $hit load better. As for your future plans mate, you mentioned a Clubsport bodykit, is that a VS one or something different? I only ask as i have a VS myself, with a VX Clubsport bodykit and also the VZ Guard Flutes you mentioned you want. Have a look and see if thats what you like? =)

Good luck with the plans mate, i hope to see them all happening in the near future.

Yeah thanks guys, as I said I plan to dump it as soon as I get paid, hopefully this month (Y).
Well I think I made it alot harder than it was with the dash cause I bought the LED's off eBay and tried taking the dash facia off but didn't know what I was doing and left it half on as I pulled the instrument cluster out. Long story short a couple of the globes were faulty so I took it in and out about 10 times, sliding it past the facia and then I split the ribbon wire and had to try and solder a connecting wire across the break which was f***ing risky but it worked haha. Yeah if you know how to take the Facia off it is easy, just 2 screws on the cluster and there are 4 globes at the back, just gotta make sure they are the right way round and your sweet. Looks so effective at night with the neons in foot wells
about the body kit I never really thought about it like that but that's a good idea. I was just gonna go vs body kit with vz indicator panel but a vx one would be awesome yours looks great mate (Y)

hopefully will clean and polish this weekend to get some more pics.

Happy to answer any more questions guys keep em coming.

Hey guys just want your opinion on lowering my car. My friend said he could get BMW ssl which would dump it like ridiculous at the rear and sl at front. I was wondering if I should dump it as low as it can go (without being unsafe) or just get commodore ssl which sit a fair bit higher?

He said you either dump it as low as you can or don't bother haha.

    Let me know

    Cheers heaps

thats not the best advice lol, if you want low just but ssl for the rear and sl for the front, that will look nice. keep in mind though if you want to go any lower than LOWS you will need to but shortened hardened shocks, otherwise your car will become a danger to you and others

Alright thanks but I've seen super lows on front and ssl on rear but I want that litle bit lower to turn heads haha.

The mechanic said the only thing that will happen if you don't get shorter struts is wen you Jack your car up the spring might fall to the side but you can just push it back.

So you guys reckon new shocks if going to ssl or even the BMW ssl? I was just gonna leave it and see how it goes.

Thanks for the feedback keep it coming

    cheers

yeah, If your mechanic has told you that....... thats a little dodgy. someone can correct me if im wrong, but it has to do with the shock always being compressed to the bottom of it travel, in other words not doing its job, making the car bounce around on the road. i would spend the extra money now to save either having an accident or rreplacing shocks all the time.

Ah ok that makes sense. So many different people have told me different things. I think I'm gonna go for the ssl on rear and sl on front and see how they go. If they are too bumpy and feel unsafe I'll buy some springs to fit. But my number 1 priority atm is lowering it so gotta get it done asap :P

I'll post a pic of dint on bonnet to see how you guys think I could fix it soon.

    Cheers heaps.

Quick question for you Jason, why did you decide to paint the interior peices black instead of sticking with the dark grey?
Its not how fast you go...its how good you look doing it...

sssl ey? that could be good do you scrape much with that? did you need new shocks too?

um with the interior, the grey was a bit sratched and ive seen some good interiors been painted and wanted to learn how to take everything apart. you might not think it is much of a colour change but the gloss black looks soo good and contrasts with the rest of the grey interior. and basically i just want to change everything that is stock :P

so i think im going to go with either the sssl rear and ssl front or the sl bmw springs, depends which are cheaper, and just keep the struts as is for now.

i am thinking of getting 6x9's in rear but unsure how to secure to parcel shelf withour drilling holes in it and having them not held down by anything. any help on how you guys did yours would be great.

    cheers heaps guys

i bought some 6x9 speaker bokes from autobarn, cut them in half nailed a peirce of ply back on the back painted it black, shoved half the sound deadener back in and velcroed them to the materal on the parcel shelf. i did this cause i knew i wasnt gonna keep my Vr for long, works wel and they dont take up too much of your vision. just make sure you measure how deep your speaker goes into the box and cut accordingly.

Ah ok that's sounds like a good idea. Did you have to put the ply across the whole shelf or just around speakers? Could I get away with just buying some wooden spacers and screw them into the parcel shelf and put the 6x9's on them? So there will still be space inbetween stock holder and parcel shelf? I was hoping they won't slip around if I put a spacer on there (the wooden ones).

Is the sound that much better? And also I have rattle inbetween my doors right at the top and I think it's cause of my electric windows. Does anyone know how to fix that? Or if dynamatt works?

    Cheers heaps.

dynamat wont fix the rattle, guys mostly use it for road noise, i had a rattle from my window in the vr aswell. the closed in boxs from auto barn worked well. i origionally had them as i bought them just sitting on the parcel shelf, kind of wedged them inbetween the window and parcel shelf, cause i didnt want to remove the stock speakers, they never moved anywhere. the spacers would work but you would have to remove the speaker mesh and origional speaker so that the magnet on the 6x9 went through the old speaker hole. However i have no idea how to remove the speakers, hence my above solution.

ah ok, well ive already got the old mesh and speaker out, got a new 260W kenwood speaker on there with a cover but want 6x9's so i was just gonna buy a wooden spacer so that they would fit (depth wise) because there is a hole for the speaker to fit in built into the chassi and the cops dont like you tampering with that cause its illegal. but if i just sat it on top instead of making a whole new parcel shelf it should be ok.

hopefully get some soon and fit them with no worries

Door handles came in mail today, just gotta fit on, aparently there is a jesus pin or something from the inside that makes the door handle fall apart to change them over, anyone heard of this? or have a better way of seperating the door handle from the whole thing? the chrome ones are only the part you grab to open the door from the outside.

    thanks heaps

Ah ok, cool cool, i was just more wondering about the colour as there isnt alot of black in the interior, rather a dark grey, do you have plans to eliminate more of the dark grey plastics and vinyl and go all black? Or just leave it as is?

ah ok, well i love the new black commodore ve's and the grey doesnt suit it i think. i have plans to do the whole thing black but just scared it will all peel and chip off (as it has a tad already, didnt let it dry long enough). but the black gloss makes it look classy i think and i know alot of people think its tacky but if its done right then its amazing. not quiet done yet but looks great i think.

    cheers
