Hi all, thought i'd start a thread for the transformation of my 'Tow Pig'.
(tow pig because it will be used to tow my '71 BMW E3 show/race car)
1st pic' is how i bought it bout 2 months ago,
3 seat bench but manual floor shift, that's the reason i bought it.
Have spent the last couple weeks getting stuff together, now i've got it all i thought i'd give it a quick colour change. Can't really tell but it's Atomic Mica.
2nd pic' is half an hour after i put on the last coat of clear this arvo.
By this time next week it should be finished so will post some more pics and details.
Oh and i hate the VN-VP-VR-VS ute rear bumperettes so i modified mine lol.
Yeah, it's GMH Atomic mica (VE Commodore). doesn't photograph very well tho'.
not really a pig anymore, considerin it better then some of the cars on this forum. looks a treat pal, just needs a hard lid
Thanks mate. It got christened 'Tow Pig' because it will tow my '71 race/show BMW.
Never been a big fan of hard covers, only for the fact i throw shit loads of bigger stuff in the back. I do have a brand new soft cover that i paid $120 nz for, so that won't look too bad against the black.
Love the colour mate, looks really nice. I would colour code the mirrors and put some clear tail lights on it. Oh yeah and a hard cover. Are they 18" rims on it?
Actually the more i look at it, maybe keep the black mirrors?
im likeing those custom bumperettes makes the rear look alot smoother. When i first saw them i was like meh? but they came up good. did you just cut it and fiberglass it??
How much it end up costing you to paint it up? I love that colour so much, makes me wanna respray mine.
Leaving mirrors black mate cos i think they would look a bit out of place with tinted windows.
Was looking at some clears for the rear but i'm not 100% sure i like them, but the clear side indicators do look good against the green.
Yep rims are 18 x 8 HSV R8 rims.
Yep i just cut them then fibre glassed them. Going to see a guy i know who makes '32 Ford hot rod bodies to see if he can make some better looking ones, i still don't like my ones cos i want to get rid of those bumps and have them more rounded.
All up it cost $550, that's all materials' electricity for shed and even stuff like coffee, milk and sugar lol.
Then again i am a car painter/airbrush artist so i can keep my costs right down lol.
Well the outside of the "pig" is done and i'm waiting for the perfect weather and light so i can get some good pic's. But i got bored yesterday and thought the tailgate looked a bit bare so.............i broke out the airbrush.

For a tow car thats bloody nice aye love the colour goes so well with it
Nice ute! also the bmw is great, it really needs to be lowered though
looks miiinnnttt mate haha
maybe look at the darkish clear lights, would suit the whole black and green theme or evn smoked factory lights would look the goods
if u aint still towing that beautiful bmee then look into lowering for sure, will look show qaulity![]()
this thing is so so so nice, especially for a tow car.
i like what your doing with the rear bumperettes, something different.
are your rims VT GTS rims painted black?
Hey sorry for the thread revival but what is the paint called and code ? I really like it and i also have black wheels ve gts 19's. Thanks for any help.
Vs ute goes like shit off a slippery shovel.
Some people say less talk more action. I SAY MOAR TORQUE LESS TRACTION!!!
