20' VE Supersports, Superlows, Sound System *in Progress*,"Just the clean, sleek look."
well well well where to start.
begun last friday i got home and fitted my walbro fuel pump and checked everything was right to go. found the heater tap was leaking a bit replaced that.
saturday went to see dicks electronics to get it tuned and fit the mafless intake and 60lb injectors everything was going smoothly. was very quick. then we run out of daylight and called it off for another day of tuning.
sunday i decided id go for a drive in the car now everythings done got about 30kms from home and crunch bang wtf was that the car stalled on me. wasnt anything obvious or fixable roadside. so went and hired a trailer and towed it home with the help of adam and chris thanks alot guys
then monday night vk commo mischa and holdenmandan came over to try and work out what it was the went wrong first we though something to do with electrical cas or dfi module etc spent all night trying to work out what it was with no result. the next day tuesday i tried to crank the engine over by hand and found that it was very hard and making weird noises. my first thought was valve to piston. so decided to pull the engine out that night and try and rectify the problem. vkcommo and holdenmandan went to vkcommos house to get the engine crane as mischa and i disconnected everything. ready for the engine to come out. pulled it out pulled the heads off to find no problem. turn the engine over and it still sounds crunchy then next things next pull off the timing cover to find the cam sprocket bolt had come loose and let the cam slide back in the engine and smash the shite out of the lifters. this is where we left it for tuesday night.
so the plan was to find a replacement l67 and install that before powercruise on friday (tomorrow) i rang around a few places and couldnt find one for a decent price so i thought id let it go and take my hr ute to power cruise. then at about 11 o clock last night i had an idea of using holdenmandans old ecotec motor that he had sitting in his carport and strap the supercharger onto that for the weekend. after contacting him i headed out to pick up the engine got home at roughly 2 and started my work if it were to be in and running for friday id have to pull an all nighter. so i started pulling the engine down intake manifold heads etc and changed them all to the supercharged version and then in the afternoon mischa holdenmandan aaron and vkcommo came over to help put the engine in. got it all finished a bit after 9. then went to eastern creek to get my documentation for powercruise the following morning.
so thats where im at running an a2a high boost m90 on a stock hi comp bottom end. shall see how long it lasts. next time will be bigger and better. thats always the way.
chewed cam
chewed lifter this wasnt the worst one by far. i couldnt get them out of the block theyre that damaged.

ouchthat sux mate. haha guess we will have more updates to look forward to
and im liking that it will be bigger and better
yeah thats what you get for giving it a go yourself really. the chance that i could break and not having a warranty or anything its just my fault.
havent decided on a route yet as to what ill do. gotta do some research and work out what will be best
Ill be surprised if something hasn't broken by Sunday, But who cares, Free engine. lol..
This car is just headaches.. Bad luck mate!
Gonna redo the L67 or go for an extra 2 cylinders?
im actually thinking of pitching the l67 in search of more power. but i don't think it will be a motor with more cylinders. so if there is anything you want from the running gear offer me a price and it might make my decision easier.
Haydz are you thinking 2JZ, that would be so cool in a ute. would fly like a rocket if you stuck in a single turbo 2jz, or even a tt.
spookster: at the moment im thinking 2jz. but im up in the air at the moment as ill have to make my own engine/gearbox mounts and wiring etc could be a headache. but im still tossing up this idea. as pretty much a stock one will be as quick as the l67. and thats with the l67 close to the end of the bolt on stage. but there's still possibility of a ls1 im just not so much of a fan as everyone does them. and i like the 6 cylinder better i think.
wombles: ill have the l67 pistons out of my block theyre still in good condition and stock l67 cam. as i dont think the xp hot cam will be much good. maybe with a clean up if its still straight it would be ok. but im not sure.
Shoot me a price on them and see what happens from there Haydz.
Also need double row timing chain..
Loven the ute mate coming along nicely!!! Shame about the mishap with the l67! Time for an LS3 conversion maybe lol what powa did u make with the l67?
MUNCH MUNCH LS1 4 LUNCH
at the moment ive got someone who might want to buy everything from front mount to gearbox. so ill see how that goes and if he is still interested with the price ive told him.
dobesz i never got it dynod with the cammed l67 engine but i did get it done with the charged ecotec heres the dyno sheet
