nah man. im getting stronger bolts than what holden sell. no dowels = stronger bolts. haha you got ripped my rubber things were 8 bucks trade price lol. but they are a rip off. my rear coolant hose from thermostat to the coolant metal pipe was 6 dollars genuine lol
what flywheel setup did you go with. I don't recall seeing it mentioned.
got a standard ecotec t5 flywheel and i used the standard ecotec dual mass on the getrag
Lol, at which point will be a matter of trial and error getting the balance right on the thing, 8 different ways it can bolt up! I think the plan is to crank the motor over and run it with just the flywheel bolted up to make sure the flywheel balance is in harmony with the crank before putting the gearbox on. Or will this approach not work Brendan?

Yep only goes on one way, I got my T5 flywheel mirror balanced to an L67 flexplate by a place in Castle Hill. no vibrations at all, can put you in touch with him if you like

yeah, as SwwetWagon says, will only bolt up one way. one of the mounting holes are offset. it's not something you can really see until its up to the crank and you spin it round.
mischa. from being in the trade ive found out flywheel bolts arent one use. just re loctite them and rattle gun them up. no torquing them in sequence or anything seemingly proper like that.
i have never used my bolts more then twice. I had an old xf and i went threw 3 motors and i had to use the auto bolts as the manual ones where to long. On the third go i used new bolts. i dont like the feel of the dual mass flywheels.

5/16 by 1 inch long for the squeakotec.
thanks for all the encouragement. im hoping it will go alright.![]()
well since i last updated. i have run all the engine wiring and modified my t5 loom to suit. started it today.
then run into a problem with my header pipe and the bellhousing for the t5. but from reading on the pacemaker website it seems i need to grind some off the bellhousing to ensure it fits.
here's a few more pics of where im up to.

Which pacemakers are you using? I used PH5039 they fit the T5 with no clearance issues (runs very close in one spot but has enough not to knock on it)

well from talking to people and a bit of research they should fit with a bit of grinding. tbh i was quite over it at the point i tried to put in the gearbox and probably could have tried harder.

and i dont know what headers im using. i bought them from commwreck they were on a series 3 ecotec with a getrag.
Wow just read the whole thread, sucks about the whole #### around you've had with the first two utes, especially the first one, seems like all that hard work was wasted. But good onya for sticking with the project, this third ute should be mint!
Would love to know what your neighbours think when they see all these statesmans around your place, and now a bunch of utes haha.

lol, funny story all those cars.... His lawn is quite empty now, well for the time being.
Hey haydz even if you do get it to fit it looked like the clutch cable was going to be very close to the header or maybe even on it. I duno maybe somthing to think about or check again im not 100%.

gettin' real close now.
good too hear the you got the gearbox fitted up. how much do you reckon you ended up taking off the bellhousing?
the racebrakes adaptor is a good bit of kit hey. saves the mucking round cutting the adjuster bolt etc.
i took a fair bit off because i didnt want to have to pull it back out again. and knowing from experience on that side with dans extractors cant remember the brand. but yeah he is still having problems with it tapping things.
adaptor is probably the easiest part of this car so far. haha
this morning i grabbed some vt rotors and painted it all up and done the front brakes. look real nice. and hopefully they work as good.

well i have been a bit of a bludger lately and not gotten anything done to the ute. then i stumbled across an intercooler kit for sale. checked it out on saturday and ended up getting it. basically a full kit and cost me 1800 dollars so nobody can whinge at me for not going BYE as i didnt pay the fit pricing.
it comes with
piping
intercooler
plate
injector spacers/o rings
gaskets
misc joiners and hose clamps.
also sold my mums car on the weekend and kept the wheels i put on it. theyll possibly see some time on the ute before i get a good set of wheels.

Shiny, I like shiny.
Cant wait to get that intercooler on? Or are you just going to get the car going first? Plenty of time, not like you have to run it in within 2 months!
BTW: wtf is all that crap ontop of you battery?

yeah thanks for coming for a spin to pick up the cooler mischa.
im pretty keen to get the cooler on. going to have a go at getting a few loose ends tied up this weekend. then all i will be waiting on is a pedal box. might see if commwreck will swap me. worth a try i guess as hydraulic vs one's are quite rare.
all that crap on top of my battery is the remainder of the cars wiring. headlights cruise control etc.
prepped and painted the rear brakes. so they can go on and ill bleed them up.![]()
