Thought I'd stop by and say hi. I've just bought my mate's old VS wagon, and just finishing off some work on it to get it back on the road, but thought I'd sign up as this place seems really useful. Already made use of the how to's to help me remove the door cards and change speakers over, and hopefully it'll help with removing the stereo too!!!
I have some grand plans for her, and hopefully be a bit different to anything you've seen done before with the VS![]()
Here are some pictures - enjoy!!

ohh woww !very nice wagon! want more pix!
Didn't know the sold the wagons in the UK lol!
I must be living under a rock..
Plans for her are to go old lead sled style. Keep her matt black, but either have a metal flake or a lace paint roof, and maybe some ghost flames on the sides n front too in gloss black, or maybe red.
Most people here have no clue what it is. They think it's a weird Vauxhall Carlton, Omega or Senator, which in a way it is. It's the 3.8L Ecotec but over here that'll do nicely, a 5.0 would be a bit too much to run!!
ooohohh!! Would not have been cheap to frieght it from AUS :P
I'll be checking this again, don't you worry
Make sure you look after the hopefully 'only vs wagon' in UK !!!!
Also, I'd imagine..Parts would be hard to get for ya lol..
Haha, no freight cost, he actually spent a few months driving it from Australia. Ferry to Asia, then along and up through Europe and then across into England!!!!!
Parts will be a pain on some things, others not so bad. As we have similar things over here. But that's why when the guy bought the VS back from Australia he bought a load of spares!! I have a spare windshield, spare brakes (putting the spare front discs on at the moment as the old discs had worn a fair bit), got the leather seats out of a Vauxhall Senator and got the fronts in already![]()
Subscribed. Looks the goods man, lucky to have that in the UK![]()
Cheers mate, yea, my mates have owned it for a few years, and everyone who knows them and myself has been telling me to buy it for about a year now, and I've finally given in! LOL
The advantage of having things like Vauxhalls over here which are all part of the GM group like Holden are, there's loads of lovely bits kicking around, like my lovely new front seats![]()

There's one thing for sure. The VS was a tough old bird and if you can keep the body free of rust in your damp climate (do you still salt the roads to remove snow?), she should go for ages.
Yea, the rear half is Carlton, some of the interior is Senator, and the front end, dash, and engine is Holden, so alright on some parts, other parts, I'm kinda screwed on Haha!! Ah well, hope none of those parts break eh?

We tend to hang onto our cars much longer than the UK and our climate is much kinder to them.
visited the UK in 2009 and, whilst I saw a few Vauxhall Omegas, around 2000 - 2003 models, when I think they went out of production, I didn't see a single Carlton, which was obviously much older. I guess there can't be too many of them left on the roads over there and your "Cash for Clunkers", plus the incredible depreciation, probably ensures they have pretty short lives.
I see your car has power windows so I assume it was a Berlina?
That's cool. I've got a load of spares for it already, the guy filled it up with spares before driving it over here back in '96 and there's still loads of spares left![]()
She's coped really well with our winters as she's been here since '96!!! Wish our weather was like yours though, have much nicer cars and easier to preserve them too
