Sounds good mate, what's your plans for her?
I have a 1997 VS with a VN BT1 5ltr V8 with a memcal chip HSV extractors, 278 crane cam, turbo 700 auto with a stage two shift kit and a two and half thou high stall.
Not to many plans atm ive had massive maitenance costs which i will post about later, your car sounds like it goes did it make much difference with the hsv extractors? i bought some then got quoted $300 from a number of places to put them on so probably gonna sell them now.
Trying to get sa rego on it i had to get it looked over by a copat an inspection place its too low and the window tint was too dark so had to get rid of the king springs and go to fe2
the pic in my first post is with king springs now with fe2 a little bit higher and lots more body rolllucky it wasnt too loud aswell as i have no rear resonator

Good pick up...welcome to the 5ltr BT1 Owners Club!
Too low ??? got to be kidding...
I know i thought having a vic roadworthy would help but it didnt, they measured it from the center of the rim to the wheel arch so i guess anything lower than fe2 is too low according to them
Pfft..well that sucks.
Yea the HSV extractors helped a bit. My brother has a stock standard 5ltr stato and mine leaves his like it's a sixstill want more power tho. Not to sure where to go from here however.
Id say a twin throttle intake or the single plane intakes they sound awesome and your cam and exhaust will make good use of the extra airflow
Reversing out my driveway i finished reversing, put it in first, let the clutch out and nothing happened, got out looked around and the wheel is hanging right out and hitting the guard so i have to push the car across the other side of the road to find the whole irs cross member has cracked as u can see in the second pic shes been kicked in the balls. So beware irs drivers according to the guy that fixed it, this can happen every 10 years and most torquey manual cars with irs instead of the proper multilink. cost over a grand to fix.
Neat looking car mate. The IRS crossmember cracking is quite common. I have one from the wreck i had and it doesn't have any cracks in it. Most people weld plates on them to strengthen them. Could of sold you this one and it won't cost a grand if you do the work yourself. The crossmember is worth about 400 from most wreckers.
Added hsv cold air intake and vt style airbox top, also got new water pump, new factory radiator, all new hoses and new thermostat. Definatley more responsive with the cold air intake.
Nice. Lucky IRS didn`t snap at a faster speed.

Bought and installed hsv 185kw chip and knock sensor from ebay. Pretty easy to install and being an ex cop car had to take out the 250kw chip that was already in there. Interesting to listen to the car when first starts up and also switching to premium especially bp ultimate 98, much better than the mobil 8000.
New headlight globes phillips blue vision 4000k (highest legal kelvin rating) - bright white. Would have god hid's but cant find where to buy projector housings
Looking around the car diff is leaking fluid, busted swaybar links and cracked header![]()
I'll bite your face.....

Nice car m8 but $6800 for a VR? wow... bet you're more than a little annoyed at the faults for that price..
Yeah 6800 is a bit steep. That's SS/HSV/LS1 territory. You'd be happy with the manual though I bet.
