Gday guys. I've been reading these forums for a while and decided it was time to put up a thread for my Berlina.
First of all my name is Mitchell, I'm 19 and this is my first car.
My grandfather bought this car brand new back in 1994 and owned it up until January of last year, when he then handed it down to me. It was kept in pretty good condition and had done about 175 000k's when I got it.
Since I acquired the car the mods have been minimal, although I have spent a bit of money on the mechanical side of things to keep the thing running =D. I wanted to keep the car somewhat stock looking, something different to the typical P Plate Commodore you see around.
Now for the details:
Model - VR Berlina
Year - 1994
Odometer - 199 000
Colour - Genesis Blue
Motor - Buick 3800 V6
Transmission - 4spd 4L60E Auto
Diff - Stock 3.08 Single Spinner
Exhaust - 2.5" Redback catback with resonator
Wheels/Tyres - 15x7 Interceptors with 225/60/15 Bridgestone RE001 Potenzas
Suspension - Stock
Interior - Stock Berlina Interior, black venetians, UHF
--------------------------------------------
Heres some pictures of when I first got the car:
Complete with lambswool seatcovers:
Those pictures were taken back in January 2010, not much has changed aside from a few subtle things (Clear side indicators, VS grill inserts, etc).
I've got pretty much every receipt for the work which has been done on the car lol:
Original purchase receipt:
Imagine paying $37 000 for a VR!
So that's pretty much my car. Future mods which I want to do is lower it slighty (leaning towards Lovells Sports Lows), 15x7 interceptors and an 80L fuel tank.
Heres a couple of the chasers I managed to get:
I also got some chrome centre caps and chrome dress trims:
They're not perfect but good luck finding a set that are :0
The wheels are all getting repainted at the moment, gonna be time to fork out for some bigger rubber once they are ready to go
Heres the 80L tank I managed to get for a bargain on eBay, complete with everything for the conversion:
It's going to be painted silver (probably hammertone) with black straps, for a change...
Well I think that's enough for the time being, let us know what you think![]()

thank god youre changing them wheels. those wheels are so ugly. they are my most hated wheels haha.
stockies will look heaps better.
another good thing to do is debadge it. its very cheap to do and is very effective.
My VT Senator 220 KW. http://forums.justcommodores.com.au/...tor-220kw.html
Haha I wouldn't say they were ugly, just a pain in the ass to clean. Plus I was getting a bit bored with them lol
On de-badging, it would probably make the thing look a bit cleaner but I kinda like having the badges on it for some reason. Probably because I want to keep the somewhat stock theme.
welcome to jc forums mate.
that is one clean vr you have. my first car was in fact a vr berlina auto. not in as good nic as yours. my best word of advice is to save your money. i know myself how hard it is to not spend money on doing up cars.
but the police love p platers and especially ones in commodores. good luck with it. i like the mods so far. bigger tank etc.
Cheers Haydz
i know what you mean about trying not to spend money on it, but man it's hard lol. Ive been pretty lucky so far with the cops as the car isnt really that far from stock (I reckon the venetians throw em off the scent haha). Im trying to keep the mods somewhat discreet but effective (like the tank, etc.). It's not going to get massive rims, body kit or dumped to the floor, just a few small things which i reckon will make it look a bit better =D.
Where abouts in Liverpool are ya? I grew up around there...
It is nice and tidy mate.

Just a small update guys.
Got a couple of goodies for the VR
Chrome grill inserts....
I used to have the ones with the silver ones, but I think the chrome ones look way better =)

Remembered I had the original sales brochure in the glovebox. when my Pop saw the picture he said that's the car he wanted
Not much different ay
Well the car clicked over to 200,000 the other day. Looking forward to all the problems I'll probably encounter from here on in :/ lol.

Made a bit of progress on the fuel tank today. Took it over to a mates place (spray painter) and we blew some colour over it. We hit it with the orbital sander, filled in any dents, sanded it smooth, gave it a good cleanup, etch primed it then hit it with the hammertone silver. Im pretty stoked with the result tbh.

Be sure to get pics up when the tank is fitted,, looks real nice mate,,
Hey everyone.
Been a while since anythings happened so I thought I'd put a small update.
Got my new shockies today![]()
Just gotta sort out springs now...
Well got the interceptors back from being painted, came up pretty good I think =)

Gotta find some tyres now, going to have to find some reasonably priced RE001 225/60s
Hey guys, just a small update. Got some tyres fitted to the wheels, RE001 Potenzas. Ended up getting them for $125 each. They arent brand new, but they'd only been driven for a couple of days as the new owner thought they were too noisy (BMW drivers...)
Anyways, let me know what you guys think
I do have a small problem, one of the centre caps rattles excessively, so much so I had to take it off. Does anybody have a solution to this?
I like what you have done with that mate, it's tasteful and not over the top like a lot of them you see getting around, but still looks tough, looks much better without the snowflake alloys. Very tidy too, there aren't a lot of these cars still getting around in decent shape. My name is Mitch too :P
Time for another update.
Gonna be doing a bit of work to the VR over the coming weeks while I have time off.
The past couple of days have involved the suspension. I threw in Lovell's Sports Low coils, Monroe GT Sports shocks and a 27mm Whiteline front swaybar. I also changed other little odds and ends like panhard rod bushes (which were flogged out to the max), strut top mounts and bearings, strut boots and swaybar links.
Out with the old
In with the new
Short shocks
Old coil with shredded Polyair compared to new coil
I'll throw up some pics of the whole car ones the springs and everything settle in.
I hope to have the 80L tank in sometime over the next week![]()
I like what you have done with the car.
What trim rings did you use on the interceptors?
Also what colour did you paint them?
