Sounds like some good plans and looks like a decent base. Not sure the respray is a good idea though...I think you should just try bring the paint up as nice as you can and that will look heaps better. Then spend the money you saved on a heap of MACE gear![]()
I'd forget the white interior bits too. It will just cheapen the car badly. There's a good reason that manufacturers avoid white interior components.
Like the wheels.
+1 to no white interior, especially since you are only going to whack some paint on a few bits if I read it right.
The paint looks ok in the pix, I'd leave it. Spend your money on making the car work well, it looks fine. Its just a personal view too, but I dont know a single person apart from a few on this forum who thinks matt black over a whole car is anything but ugly and cheap looking.
Its your taste, you like it, go ahead, but when it comes to reselling the car, with matt black paint, white paint on plastic in the interior, etc, the car will be pretty much worthless except for parts. You will have limited your potential market of buyers in a major way.
You will have spent your money making your car worth substantially less, whereas if you concentrate on mechanicals and making the original paint and interior as good as it can be, you will raise the value of the car. One day, you will want a different, more modern car, and then it may matter to you.
Bottom line though is its your car, your decision. I'm only posting an opinion because you asked for one. Good luck with whatever you decide, its a satisfying thing making a car distinctly yours.
Thanks guysyeah only reason I wanted to respray it cause it has alot of touch ups on it ad the paint isn't the same colour as the car it's abit darker but if I respray the car in colour that has been touched up in shouldn't go wrong hey? And yeah you guy probably right about the interior it's just a thought
any ideas on mayb a better colour then black to Respray the car? Wont lots of ideas

The best colour to paint it in is the colour it already is (the original colour, not the touchups). Then everything matches, including the interior trim and even the paint code on the plate (though that detail is probably unimportant given it will never be a collectors car). It saves you from having to do the insides of doors, engine bay, etc, and therefore a crapload of either money or hard work and time.
Its a nice colour, it looks good. If you hate it, then sure, change it, but theres a price to pay for that.
Yeah true thanks matewould it be hard to find the original colour of the paint? And I was jut thinking what about a few silver bit in the interior I think it would match the paint
or just keep interior as it is ?
The paint code will be on the compliance plate, just note it and take it to the paint shop, they will mix it for you. What you do with any part of the car is up to you, but I personally would start by making sure all the original stuff is in good nick first. Mods can come later. A bit of silver here and there would probably look ok, but as in most things, less is often best.
This is just my taste though, and my opinion. You are going to get a lot of suggestions from people, its up to you to sort through them to make your own decisions. Its your car, not mine or theirs. Remember that, and ignore the haters.
Wheres the compliance plate ? Hah yeah just a few bits silver will look goodand I'm all so going to be lowering the car on superlows that would look nice

Yeah that's a good idea probably do everything else that I want to do befor the superlows anyway![]()
Hey guys was wanting some ideas on the Silver trim keep it silver or spray it black ?
Want some ideas![]()
Do you mean the chrome window surrounds? If so then do not paint them, they look so much better than black. But if you really want back then I have a full set of factory painted black surrounds, and you could sell off the chrome ones as people are always after them.Hey guys was wanting some ideas on the Silver trim keep it silver or spray it black ?

Hey man I like the silver but it's all startin to peal off and looking shitty, any ideas on what I should do? Take them off and respray silver or buy new ones?need helphahaha
If they're screwed there's not much you can do. Try to source replacement sections from wreckers or here on the forums.Hey man I like the silver but it's all startin to peal off and looking shitty, any ideas on what I should do? Take them off and respray silver or buy new ones?need help hahaha
Yeah true got to go to the wrecker this weekend to find prices on bumpers and left hand side panel so I'll ask thenthat's all If my tax comes thought this week. Been waiting ages for it. Hahah
Sorry double post.
Was looking at the car today and the bits around the window are allright its more the silver bits around the Middle of the doors so hopefully they should be able to respray.
Called the wreckers here today down in Ballina and going to pick up my new left hand front guard tomorrow for 70 dollars an I'll be respraying both the side quards and the silver bits around the doors this weekend but not to sure on silver or black in the middle of the doors? Any ideas? I'll post up some pics when I finshand still waiting for the tax to come through to wack my rims on and get a back bumper, having trouble finding one around here.
Cheers Andrew
So you mean you want to paint trims inside the car, not outside? If thats the case, make use you use the right paint. A spraycan of enamel will look like crap, try to find the right paint for the job. If you are painting vinyl, buy a vinyl paint or dye, not normal paint.
In my view, especially inside the car, neutral is best. You have to spend time in there, you dont want it to look like a bordello... Pick a colour that complements the other colours, not one that fights with them.
Can you post a pic of the door trim so we can offer opinions? Or even better, if you can get a nice square-on view of the door, you might try asking the photoshop boys to experiment for you?
Nar bro it's on the out side of the door runs around the whole car in the middle if you look at the side view of the car you will see. Might just spray it silver see how it looks if it looks crappy I'll change itthanks for the help.

I know the problem you are referring to. The protector moulding running along both sides of the car on VR Berlina's was designed with wafer thin chromed tape covered with a thin clear plastic coating. The coating peels away with age and the chrome trim then follows.
I had this problem on my VR Berlina and fixed it by pulling off all the peeling tape, then replacing it with broad chrome pinstriping. It's quite simple to do and looks like the original once it's finished.
Spraying it silver won't look as effective as the pinstriping.
ok yeah now i know what you mean. +1 to calabers suggestion, way better than paint.
Cheers boys sounds like a way better way to go about it so would you have any idea when I would pick the silver pin strip up from? I got no idea where to look for it haha.
