Smile My VS Acclaim (Series II)

    Hey guys, this is my current car, basically fully stock but got a few ideas for it, and going with a green theme. Anyway;

    Name: Kyle

Model: 1997 VS Acclaim (Series II)

    Colour: Silver Ice MKII

    Bodykit: Standard

Engine Type: Ecotec V6 (Dual fuel)

    Engine Mods: MACE Memcal

    Intake: MACE Cold Air Intake

Exhaust: Extractors, Hi flow cat, straight through 2.5inch system and sports muffler with rear resonator

    Gearbox: Auto

    Diff: Stock

    Brakes: Stock

    Suspension: Stock

    Wheel/Tyres: Stock

Interior: Glossy black and green dash, green + black seat, seatbelt and steering wheel covers.

Stereo: -Some kind of Alpine headunit. Can't remember. Has USB/AUX support and is green.
    -2 x 12" Type S Alpine Subwoofers.

    Other Mods: -Green parkers
    -Green license plate lights
-HSV sticker over back windscreen brake light
-2 x green floor neons, another up near back seat
    -Debadged
    - Painted engine bay/cover for green theme
    -Clear side indicators

    Future mods and order:
    -Cold Air Intake Job done!
    -LPG Removal Next pay
    -Corvette Servo + Shift Kit
    -2500rpm Hi Stall
    -3.7 LSD Diff Gears
    -High Ratio Rockers (1.9's)
    -Dyno + Tune
-Suspension (Super Lows) and Brake Upgrades
-Full set of Type R speakers
    -Custom Plates [FROGSTA]
    -Altezza Headlights
    -Window Tint
    -Rims

Interior going with the green and black theme, getting the headliner and carpet all redone in black with green highlights. Probably a black respray.

    Any recommendations appreciated.

Mine's a nice silver. I think it had been resprayed not long before I got it, but I think due to the silver there's barely any fading. From some angles I can just make out the letters but yeah, can't be too bad if you give it a nice rub - you can always rub off a layer and get it nice and bright again

Put in some clear altezza side indicators. They look pretty nice and clean.

    Painted some dash and carpet with glossy black vinyl spray. Pics;

Only one coat on each, ran out of spray. Gonna be painting other stuff which I may have got anyway, so yeah. Took about an hour and that was sorta rushed.

Not a fan of the interior at all sorry, or the green engine bay. Just my opinion though. Good luck with the rest.

Yeah each to his own, I know a few hate the coloured engine bays and whatnot, and don't you like the black?
I hate the grey, just too bland and light.

Edit; oh yeah the seat covers I guess. It's just hard to find good green stuff, probably get black leather seats if I find any.

The hardest thing with highlights is keeping them looking tidy. really need to think it through and plan the whole thing before doing just random bits and pieces. Good thing with painting things like that is that you can just keep repainting them til you're stoked with it. you should check out bonners ssv in the ve-wm section, it's all black with Lamborghini green highlights which really set it off. You should look at getting black carpet and headlining and really darken up the whole cabin, then chuck in some well planned green highlights.

Haha yeah I see it now. It's the things like that which make a huge difference mate. I had a VS exec which was tidied up with colour matched exterior handles and mirrors, removed exterior strips, calais interior (seats/door trims), and a nice set of wheels. If you can find someone local that is regularly wrecking vr/vs commodores you'll be in luck for a lot of easy upgrades and great parts.

Nice man, did you have any pics or a thread about it?
A calais set would be noice, the seats and stuff. Yeah, can't remember off the top of my head but basically all carpet from parcel shelves is going black, most of the dash in going to be black, with some large bits of green. Doors also mainly black with a few green highlights + green fabrics
Stuff like the door handles, window winder, and the speaker grills will be green.

Nah nothing sorry mate, it was about 5 cars ago. Any upgrade on the interior from the higher models is always awesome.
Sounds like a good plan, keen to see it come into fruition. One of the things you need to make your mind up about is swapping little bits in at a time and it looking unfinished. Or waiting til you've got everything and doing it in one go.

And I'll most likely keep going at it slowly, got some green paint left and whatnot.

So yeah, hopefully door, sway bars, and power steering pump getting replaced soon.
My hole-y exhaust is also getting completely replaced soon enough too, hopefully March 11th by Not_An_Abba_Fan, doing a full system for me. Might upload a vid of the new sound, at the moment it sounds pretty horrible haha, feels like all the air is just rushing out and powerless. Looking forward to it, though recently noticed a bit of a whining sound towards the back. Any ideas anybody? I'm assuming it's the diff?

Yeah, whining from the rear is likely to be the diff. Mine is starting to get to the very annoying phase now I sense a rebuild is on the horizon.

Cheers mate. Hmmm was looking on ebay. $850 for a reconditioned 3.9 LSD seem okay?
Or does anybody have an LSD with around 3.7 ratio/gears?
