Default Matt's 1997 VS SENATOR BUILD NO. 1069

    G'day all,

this is my new toy, a 1997 vs series 2 senator

she's been optioned with leather, level ride suspension, its got the immobiliser in the centre console, the 250 km/h dash etc etc its currently auto, but not sure if its staying that i've been debating about that. i was originally looking for a 215 manual senator but everyone i looked at was a complete heap of **** that had either been flogged, wound back the speedo, massive crash damage, etc etc. so when i found this on i snapped it up cause its in so good condition. the current pics i haven't even washed it in

the VX GTS 19"s are its first ever mod, its still 100% original even down to the radio and cd stacker and exhaust. i put the rims on the very first day i got it.

anyhow all in all its not a bad car for a 16 year old 2nd year apprentice mechanic who is still on his l's :woot: and it gives the rice burner bridage something to look at

anyhow tell me what you think

    Matt

p.s. i should now ask for my username to be changed to compliment my car now that its not a s/c v6 calais, maybe i could get v8_symphony

Should chuck a 6 sp in it, it would go off tap!! and be a lot more fun to drive.

yeah a real fan of the vr/vs myself ay. wanted one for years. this car was one that is in good nick ands thats rare to find so i couldn't pass it up. been looking for a 6 speed conversion out or a vs senator 215 or gts or gts-r as i said i really wanted a manual, but oh well. i chased up the borgwarner six speed off street commodores forum, but email hasn't been replied yet, if anyone see's a conversion in they're travels please let me know.

i think the vs is actually one of the best commo's to date. future mod's i haven't really planned yet, but they're will be some in the future no doubt. right now i'm just happy with it. i mean what 16 yo wouldn't be happy with a vs senator on 19"s?

thanks winton. yeah the wheels were chosen cause vy senator's are becoming far too common, don't get me wrong they look nice. but i wanted something a bit out of the ordinary and now i like them even better than the vy senator rims. the colour is virtually the same as the accents on the bodykit so they fit in nice

short answer, no. i knew this would come up

its more of a sunday car and to take to local car shows with dad's xu-1 torana, i'll drive her on l's for a while and i'll get a ute when i get my p's, will still keep it then i think.

unfortunately the people with they're p's before 1 july 2007 or 2008 or something can drive a 185i (either way i can't, turn 18 28-oct-2008), so its like my old vs s/c v6 calais. only i had it before the new rules were even announced so i got screwed with it

yeah mate t5 is a good box too, just remember abuse the clutch, nto the box and it''l last. should go 6spd hey. yeh had a s/c calais as well but its long gone. your car looks pretty tidy, but leave the stock wheels on they look better

your not the only one r_i_d_a_h, lol i'm really happy. just sick of people telling me its not genuine, it has been verified by h.s.v. they only saying it because they know it will get to me.

back to the 6spd but, i'd really like too. but finding a complete kit is too hard. getting a genuine senator 6spd manual trim panle so it doesn't look dodge is proving to be the hardest part. can anyone tell me if the t56's in the gts-r's use a standard 5 litre flywheel or if they are different?

i left school at 15 and been an apprentice mechanic ever since, thats how i've managed to afford it. just saved money instead of getting pissed and wasting it.

Well all i can say is good on ya mate, sweet car id be proud of it too, and when you and all your mates finally get ur license you will have somthing to prove about savin ur cash.
Im not sure about the flywheel or not, but why look for a genuine 215 6 sp? that will be too hard to track down, ur best of getting one off any genIII and then adapt it to suit. Plenty of ppl do it.
And the dash panel would be hard yeh.... but any manual senator one would be the same wouldnt it?

Oh and about the ppl saying its not genuine thing, that drives me nuts too. I cant stand how ppl make mocks and then actually badge them as a clubby when its really an auto v6! Makes me soooo angry.
When i firt got my clubby i had a bunch of guys drive passed me real slow in a vx clubby and they started yellin out get a real clubby etc and that drove me nuts!!! Cant ppl tell whats real and whats not??!!!

yeah mate, can drive a v8 or whatever you like on l's, then you are resticted on p's what a toss that is.

yeah all this bull**** i've been copping about it not being genuine has been from a bloke driving a stock vs v6 5 speed, i was like **** off and get a better car than mine before you even comment mate. not to be ****y but he was ****ing me right off. the authenticity sheet is in the glovebox for ****'s sake.

but yeah the old vr-vs hsv's are definately a sweet ride indeed. also shane i must give you these numbers to enter into your database.

anyhow thanks for the feedback guys, and looking through some of your profiles your rides aren't too bad either.
